An old relation of mine had once of the first 'invalid cars', a small boxy thing intended for use on roads. He was always getting into trouble for dangerous driving. The police would invariable take a very leniant view, 'explaining' that he couldn't drive on the pavement, down pedestrian underpasses and that he had to give way to pedestrians. He wasn't worried by the thought of any court proceedings but eventually modified his irascible behaviour when the police when they threatened to 'confiscate' the car. I'm not sure that they would have been able to do this without a court case but he believed them and life became a little easier for pedestrians.

You gotta love the North Korea's!
Although I do agree with their comments about Clinton sometimes dressing like a schoolgirl or pensioner.

>>"We cannot but regard Mrs Clinton as a funny lady as she likes to utter such rhetoric, unaware of the elementary etiquette in the international community," the spokesman said.

Do the N. Koreans even know what "elementary etiquette in the international community" is ?

Offers for help are pouring in for an eight-year-old Liberian girl disowned by her own family in Phoenix, Arizona, after being raped by four boys.

The girl is under the care of the Arizona Child Protective Service (CPS) because her parents said she had shamed them, and they did not want her back.

>>But the police said no charges will be filed against the parents.
"They didn't abandon the child," Phoenix police sergeant Andy Hill told AFP news agency. "They committed no crime. They just didn't support the child, which led to CPS coming over there<<

I suppose lack of humanity can't be considered a crime.... but it still stinks. I hope that their lack of adhension to common values ensures that the parents are never granted US citizenship. Do they have other children I wonder. They are certainly not fit parents. They want to ostracize their child, it would be appropriate for the rest of their community to ostracize them!

No smiley can truely express my disgust

"Felipe Massa was airlifted to a Budapest hospital with a skull fracture today as the result of an injury received during qualifying for tomorrow's Hungarian grand prix. The Brazilian was knocked unconscious when a spring, which had become detached from the rear suspension of Rubens Barrichello's Brawn, struck Massa on the head..."

Let's hope he recovers we have already lost someone in motorsports this week...both freak accidents...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/8158445.stm

"The son of motorsport legend John Surtees has been killed in a "freak" accident during a Formula Two (F2) race at Brands Hatch in Kent.

Henry Surtees, 18, was flown to the Royal London Hospital after he was struck by a wheel which flew off Jack Clarke's car."

It's all down to fractions of a second...a fraction more or less they would both be OK...a harsh world..but not cruel...

A video of the crash..German commentary but shows the crash...scarily reminiscent of Senna's crash.

If Massa was hit by Barrachello's spring I have no idea when it happened in the clip.

"BBC TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson has provoked controversy after using a swear word to describe Prime Minister Gordon Brown at a Top Gear recording.

The offensive four-lettered insult came during the warm-up for the recording on Wednesday and was not for broadcast."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8168621.stm

The journo's at the BBC really have it in for Clarkson...an un-broadcast expletive by Clarkson provoked controversy...HOW did it provoke controversy? considering the people at a Top Gear recording (and a lot of the general public not there) would whole heartedly agree with him?

A story from nothing about a BBC TV programme. Clarkson on Top Gear is a charicature...though no one would blame him for calling Brown a ... ... ... ... .
