flakey-lady.... you lookin' at me punk? Posted Oct 20, 2005
i've seen elephant.. interesting i also loved the floaty round the corridors feel of it...what freaked me was seeing the 2 boys and how they were...at that time i was working with a very intense young goth lad who was obsessed with guns and had a pretty bad attitude in general to the public.. although i got on great with him..but i kept questioning him that i hope i never read about him going on a shooting spree because believe me guys and gals he had ALL the credentials to go off like a bomb...
with dogville it took me about 20 mins to get used to the format my husband left the room in disgust...philistine that he is..but after you get over the basic settings you get absorbed by the storyline and excellent acting.. and by the end i think i'd have killed them all for her

Yeah, Tom.
Isn't it his idea to make her walk around with that ridiculous contraption strapped to her?
Of course, Dogville is supposed to be 'America' and Kidman is supposed to be an immigrant.
At least, thats what I read into it.

Isn't he Thomas Edison the inventor, at a younger age?
First time I saw it, I had to turn it off cos I was getting so angry at them all! By the time they smashed the china dolls, I was ready to swing that metal wheel at their heads!

LOL!
He's called Tom Edison but I don't think its the same guy as he gets shot at the end and therefore never grows up!

Went and saw Serenity again. The first time I've been to a cinema to watch the same film twice for aaages. Still think it's a brilliant fillum. Not at all thought provoking, instantly disposable and total eye candy trash, but it still offers total escapism and enjoyment.
Then I relented and took the kids to see Wallace & Gromit. I dislike the characters with a passion. An old man who likes cheese and has a pet dog (ooo my aching sides). But I was suprised. It was actally funny, laugh ot loud funny, and I enjoyed it. The helium voiced 'Hutch'got the biggest lauh from the kids in the cinema.

Watched Batman Begins for the second time. Enjoyed a lot more...still not too keen on the last half hour...or Katie Holmes.

Introduced batman begins to dad and brother over the weekend.
I think it stands head and shoulders above the other batman films but I'm interested to here your criticisms of it - what about the last half hour disatisified you?

I just found the 'big finale' a bit rushed and jumbled. I didn't like the final smack down between Bats and Ras and I thought the Scarecrow was underused. Most of the film was excellent and I am a HUGE Batman fan but I just thought the end was lacklustre.
The coda on the other hand..

I wasn't aware that the characters were, in and of themselves, the main joke. I think I could probably reduce any film ever made down to a pair of character sketches like that and make them sound uninteresting...

I wasn't stating that the characters were, in and of themselves, the main joke. My uninteresting character sketches were meant to convey the dissaproving and slightly misled attitude that I entered the cinema with. A dissaproval that was magically turned around through the wonderful animated world surrounding an admittedly not particularly amusing fromage adoring elderly gentleman, his canine companion and their adventures therein.
hmmmmm, interesting ability to have...
Star Wars?

Take this guy for instance, robbery, double homicide. Has a taste for the theatrical like you. Leaves a calling card."
I think though the underplayed nature of Batman Begins was one of it's greatest strengths. The villains were absolutly not the centre of the film unlike everthing from arguably Burton's Batman onwards. Bruce Wayne and the development of his alter ego were the real centre of the film from start to finish and like Gordon implies in the coda, what they have to worry about is "escalation." Indeed things by the end of the movie can hardly be said to have improved - the stage rather being set for later battles.

You know, you're right. It's like everything has gone boobs up and now the action will kick off. I think you've just changed my view on it!
