A couple of days ago I watched Tarzan (the animated version - cheesy, but I love it) and I am waiting with baited breath for the Corpse Bride, go Burton go!

Baldwins, schmaldwins! I prefer the Culkins as an acting family anyway.
Watched The Jacket at the weekend. Very enjoyable, kinda like Memento/Eternal Sunshine etc. Anyone seen it?

If we're talking acting dynasties what about the McGanns?
Paul - Withnail and I
Joe - The Upper Hand
Steven - um...
The other one - ah...
Unforgettable genius!

i've seen the jacket.. with keira knightly....interesting film felt the ending was a bit weak.. big build up and it kind of petered out..excellent idea though...and of course he made sure she went down the right path in the end.....clever conception.. and hes an unusual kind of hero..so very ordinary looking.. a bit geeky even.. everyones hero.

I did enjoy The Jacket and agree the ending was very weak. More interesting than momento, but not as clever as Eternal Sunshine. A solid effort for the genre (and whats-his-face from Blade was pretty good as well)

It was a low key ending, but I quite liked it. Left me thinking for ages afterwards. I'll not go into details and spoil it for people that haven't seen the film, but there are a lot of theories about what actually happened. Kinda like the Donnie Darko/The Machinist debates. Take a look at IMDB's MB if you're interested!
Agreed re: Eternal Sunshine. I don't think any movie could be as clever as it. Charlie Kaufman is a genius!

What about Adaptation?
Thats so bloody clever it hurts.
(and I know its by Kaufman before some smarty pants points that out!)

Good point! Adaptation was probably more original than his others, (and any other film made to date) but Eternal Sunshine popped into my head first as I prefer it as a film.
Being John Malkovich ain't bad either!

You got that straight.
But have you seen Human Nature.
Script by Kaufman and directed by Gondry but straight to video and not very good.
Shame really because everything else he's done is beyond genius in my opinion.

It's been on my Amazon rental list for ages, but something puts me off getting it. Don't think I'll bother now!
Has Night Watch came up here yet? Kinda like The Matrix meets Blade. Despite being utterly baffled for most of the film, I enjoyed it. I think. Still not sure! I am looking forward to Day Watch though.

Off to see it in the week. I've heard good stuff about it. The trailer is f***ing amazing (one of the best of the year) and I'm looking forward to it.
I suggest you do rent Human Nature just to see what you think. It has it moments but its NOTHING compared to his other works.

Not really into the whole superhero film thing, But Begins was better than the other Batman films I've seen. And a million times better than that Spiderman rubbish!
if any of you are Spidey fans!

Adaptation is clever?
You mean you *didn't* see the ending coming about twenty minutes into the film?
I've rarely been so disappointed by a movie in my life.

I have yet to see Batman Begins and have no doubt it will be great, but I sincerely doubt anything can surpass the original Batman --- Michael Keaton v Jack Nicolson, directed by Burton --- there is no comparison, I love it

Well the first Burton Batman is one of my all time fave modern films, it was IMHO certianly the best "Superhero" film ever.
However I think that Begins is just well better. In pretty much every respect.
Honestly try it.

I think on balance Batman Begins is a better film that Burton's Batman, and in retrospect, Nicholson was far too old to play the Joker.
My only criticism of the film is that if you are familiar with the original material then the 'surprise' villian is about as surprising as a poke in the eye due to some very good casting.
I also enjoyed the two Spidey movies - especially the second one. I think they captured the spirit of the Lee/Ditko years very well indeed, and Alfred Molina was perfectly cast as Otto Octavius. The third one could do with expanding Jonah's role a little though. He's a little one dimensional at the moment, which is disappointing.
