The Gene Wilder version that was just on Channel 5 or the new Depp/Burton effort?

The Gene Wilder one, you know, the good one...
I think I'm going to see the new one next week though

A film called 'Jeffrey' and a film called 'Threesome', both of which I suspect aren't wildly acclaimed films but both I found hilarious...

Saw the Fantastic 4 at the weekend, I'm such a glutton for these super-hero films as they finally have worked out how to do them properly in recent years. It was cool. The only poor one I've seen over the last year or two was Daredevil.
Finally saw Man on Fire on Box Office too. That was a brilliant film, knocked Payback (Mel Gibson's effort along the same lines) into tough and no mistake.

watched electra...really rubbish, even my 8 yr old was bored with it and i thought it would appeal to her......a big build up to the confrontation which was pathetic..i couldn't accept that was it!!!
and as older daughter pointed out the baddies were much more interesting as they had freak qualities....[akin to x men]
very poor movie.

Talking about freaks, saw Sin City last night. At first the characters seemed overdone, to tough and serious. It made me think of Max Payne, the 3d shooter protagonist. But as the movie progresses the acting and the monologues seem more natural, an inevitable part of the world they live in. It helps to set an eerie mood to the film that I like alot. In short I thought it was great.
The way the movie was structured left me with a feeling that there are going to be a lot more of Sin City movies. I'm definitely going to watch the next one.

Yes that's more or less next on my list.
especially as having seen fantastic 4, I'd rather like to see more of Jessica Alba

War of the Worlds just came out here this week. If you ignore the fact that it in no way compares with the original, tis a good yarn and entertaining enough.
Orcus, have you seen Dark Angel? Used to be on Channel 5 in the UK but dunno if it's still on. Jessica Alba kicks serious butt in it weekly!

As Serephina already said, we went to see The Descent at the weekend, which i thought was excellent.
Though i'll point out that i was holding her hand to make sure she wasn't too scared, rather than being because i was scared.

does anyone out there recommend sin city...my daughter has seen it and reckons i'll like the men as they are rough and rugged [how i like em]
but is it a good film...hunky looking men are not enough for me to define a film as good or bad....all reports welcome...

It's supposed to be excellent.
Deakie, yes I've seen Dark Angel several times. Every time I've seen it she's been ill or something and hasn't done sod all. Must have got unlucky or something
