In the last few weeks at the SS I've seen:
"Shall We Dance"
"King Arthur"
"The Aviator"
"My house in Umbria"
"Meet The Fockers" (backtrack) saw "Meet The Parents" on BBC3 on Sunday - thank you BBC!! MTF is alright to see if you haven't seen MTP but it helps a few visual gags if you have.
The pairing of Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand was inspired and my sides ached when I left the cinema.

Just got back from watching Heffalump with the Gruesome Twosome. Very nice, but too short and I'm not at all sure that turning the nightmare creatures from the first Pooh film, into cute cuddly little baby heffalumps is a good idea.

The Bourne supremacy dross?
I must object.
I have a few reservations about the film but its one of the most solid action movies of late (those car chases!), it holds its own as a truly intelligent sequel and it beats most modern spy movies hands down (XXX, Bond.)
What, might I inquire turned you off so, Reddyfreddy?

Saturday night - Hitch.
Moderately amusing, but completely predictable and didn't have anything new to say about relationships.
Sunday night - Be Cool.
What a pile of poo! The point of it appeared to be to cram in as many famous faces as it could without any valid reason . Plot was as thin as a wet tissue paper, the "jokes" were slapsticky and repetitive, it dragged so much I fell asleep at one point. Even Travolta's dancing was tame.
To be fair, everyone else in the auditorium was laughing out loud, a lot, so maybe it's just my wierd* sense of humour
* i.e. sophisticated

Watched the Incredibles again on dvd this weekend. Good to the last drop, just as it was in the cinema.
Almost wotrth the price of the dvd to see the new short 'Jak-Jak Attack' and the hilarious spoof cartonn 'Mr Incredible and the Justice Pals' which nailsd exactly the feeling of those really awful late 60's/early 70's cartoons like Spiderman and Fantastic Four.

Beyond the Sea - - if you like that kind of music which i do
Little Black Book - - if you hate brittany murphy which i do
Ice Age - cute - if you like that sort of thing which i kinda do
The Day after Tomorrow (again) - - i've seen this movie so many times its not right - it comes in handy though when people ask what i'm going to do after college
"have you seen the day after tomorrow?"
"..."
"well i'm gonna be like dennis quaid!"
Before Sunrise, Before Sunset - contenders for my favorite movies of all time

Saw Abyss on telly last night for the umpteenth time.
Still pretty good, still very tense and the special effect still hold up. Even if i look at aliens and now see Vorlons from Babylon 5.
I wonder if anyone tried to make a real version of those oxgenated liquid aqualung things

Now it has been a long time since I saw Abyss, but I feel confident that the being in the depth were not aliens in any respect other than not owning a British passport.
And oxygenated water has been around for a long time, but may have been cutting edge when the film was made.
Did someone say they liked The Day After Tomorrow? Can I assume this is because you can' stop laughing at it's sheer awfulness?!!

I saw Barfuß (Barefoot) last night. Written, directed, produced and acted by Til Schweiger (). I had no idea what to expect, but having read that it was a love story, and that he likes happy endings I thought I'd suck it and see.
The cinema was packed, and there were some real belly laughs throughout the film (lots of funny bits) and one really really sad bit when we were all furtively wiping our eyes.
If it makes it to a cinema near you, I can highly recommend it.

Yeah, Barfuß is on my want-to-see list, too. I am not altogether a fan of Til Schweiger, but I liked what he did in "Knocking on Heaven's Door" and I saw some trailers for Barfuß... if nothing else, the lead actress apparently knocks you off your feet.
Y.

I rather liked the day after tomorrow, I have to confess.
As the latest in the line of disaster flicks it was probably the best yet. (Just beating IMO "I think that was the same cow" Twister )
To paraphrase Jennifer Aniston, the "here comes the science bit" may have laboured a bit too hard to explain the super-freeze which remained rather extravagantly silly. I don't care much for the happy family reunion plot. I personally just rather enjoyed the moments when eye comes stoving into view, the clear view up to the stratosphere then instantly everything freezes.
Brrr..

Yelbakk, I also knew nothing about Barfuß - although I have to admit that I do a lot when Til Schweiger is on the screen. The young woman who played Lila was fantastic. I hope to see her in a lot more films.

I loved "The Day After Tomorrow" - except for the wooden acting of Jake Gyllenhaal, but I was definately ing over Dennis Quaid
I saw "Miss Congeniality 2" on Tuesday, my mother's choice. I could have seen "Hitch" but now I'm glad I didn't.
Next week's choice is Finding Neverland and Sahara. I want to see Sahara because I've already seen Finding Neverland
Counting down the days to the Hitchhiker's movie...

I watched Brazil last night
It was incredibly weird and I'm not entirely sure what happened apart from Ministry's attempting to kill eating engineers
And I've had the theme tune in my head ever since

I watched Master & Commander on tv last Saturday.
Fantasticly rollicking good fun, reminded me of Sharpe (but not quite so much - what can I say? GB is almost right. I'm the host of the thread, but nobody "owns" it )
Trying now to catch Whale Rider (is it any good?) but I'm getting distracted tomorrow by Once Upon A Time In Mexico (now that has got to be a thing to watch?)

well, yes... pants. But lots of suppressed sex in there. Somehow (or maybe that is the warped mind of a Lady Writer Of Slash that I am?)

I attempted to watch Master & Commander but fell asleep in the first few minutes. I was at home & it was on DVD.

Whale Rider is...hard to describe. The scenery is good
I watched "The 60's" today on DVD. ed all over Jerry O'Connell (the reason I bought the DVD) and it was a damn fine film with lots of historical footage. A great piece of social history I'm not going to flog on eBay.
