Hi Warner,
I'm confused - you stand by part of the quote you gave, but not the rest of the *same quote*?
And yes, you're right, sadly there will certainly be innumerable wars in the future, just as there have been in the past.

>>I stand with the Hitler/second world war prediction being an accurate one.<<
Stand with it all you like. You are, in addition to being incredibly arrogant and egocentric, very wrong.
The more important point is that you seem to think that your god shares your lack of understanding. That a guy making a prophecy is making it with reference to your ignorance.
>>It's not a fact, as you know, but I take wars very seriously, and religion aside, any serious historian could predict a massive "third world war", with today's global nature.<<
A serious historian doesn't make predictions. They study the past (really, the clue is in the name) and the present. I'm a semi-serious amateur historian and I don't. Making scientific predictions is more normally the preserve of the social scientist.
So dazzle us with your insight warner - where's the next world war gonna kick off, who will it be between, and why?
>>but I take wars very seriously<<
That's why you used a smiley when discussing them last. Very serious
blasphemy - it's a victimless crime.

>>I can't take you seriously.<<
That says a lot more about you than it does me.

HonestIago Posted Mar 10, 2009
Oops, almost got distracted by your ad hominem. Care to give us the benefit of your insight and give us the details of this coming war?
I'll even let you quote your book of myths.
blasphemy - it's a victimless crime.
Tumsup Posted Mar 10, 2009
HI, yiu don't need a book to know that all wars are between good and evil, which is which is a matter of what side you're on
It`s funny cuz it`s true

This thread moves way too fast for a proper conversation.
But I have to note Edwardo`s posting in reply to:
>> There's nothing amusing about blasphemy <<
Ed said,
'But at least it's a victimless crime.'
And I laughed.

And lo, did the Gifford ponder:
>> Wonder what would have happened if the Chinese had been a bit more expansionist? <<
Notwithstanding that Chingis Khan conquered the whole whirled, you can thank a giraffe for them mostly staying homebodies.
They did in fact have better better sea-going vessels than most European and Mid-Eastern regions during the 13th and 14th centuries. And they did mount a huge expedition to explore the rest of the whirled by sea.
Some say it had a thousand ships and was led by a eunuch general. But 1000 is a very common number in oral historical records. The eunuch was real though, and when he returned from exploring the coasts of India, Arabia, Madagascar and East Africa he paraded into the Emperor`s palace in the Forbidden city with a menagerie of beasts and slaves captured during his voyage.
When the Emperor saw the giraffe he screamed that this was not possible and must be witch-craft and sorcery. He ordered the giraffe and the eunuch to be beheaded on the spot and they were.
The result was a loss of all the information gathered on the venture and a reluctance by anyone to ever suggest exploring again. China sat back and waited for the giraffes to come to them. Which, eventually we did, mostly for the tea and oranges.

Yep. At her place by the river. Women knew their place back then. Now she lives in California. Lives in her car apparently. Hasn`t heard from Leonard in 50 years.

"Since the late 1970s Afghanistan has suffered continuous and brutal civil war in addition to foreign interventions in the form of the 1979 Soviet invasion and the recent 2001 U.S.-led invasion that toppled the Taliban government."
"In response to the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan in 1979 and part of its overall Cold War strategy, the United States responded by arming and otherwise supporting the Afghan mujahideen, which had taken up arms against the Soviet occupiers."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afghanistan
"The Soviet occupation resulted in the killings of at least 600,000 to 2 million Afghan civilians. Over five million Afghans fled their country to Pakistan, Iran and other parts of the world."
"Following the removal of the Soviet forces in 1989, the U.S. and its allies lost interest in Afghanistan and did little to help rebuild the war-ravaged country or influence events there."

Well, perhaps she really always was half-crazy

But that's why you want to be there... Actually - "Only drowning men could see him He said all men will be sailors then Until the sea shall free them But he himself was broken" One could argue that there is some "TRUTH" in this. By selecting the right lines and interpreting them 'correctly'. "Only drowning men could see him" This means that only those desperate enough to want to believe can trick themselves into 'seeing him'. "He said all men will be sailors then" Well he would say that wouldn't he; He was a sailor! "Until the sea shall free them" Once they let go of the stone of faith; the sea of despair shall free their heart; and their eyes shall see! "But he himself was broken" This entire Jesus idea was broken from the beginning. Lettuce Spry, I have proven using logic that Nighthoover shall return! Or that you can claim any old tosh by referring to chosen passages and call it proof.

I'm not sure what you wanted to say, stealth, but here's what Mr. Cohen said:
And Jesus was a sailor
When he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching
From his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain
Only drowning men could see him
He said all men will be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them
But he himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human
He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone
And you want to travel with him
And you want to travel blind
And you think maybe you'll trust him
For he's touched your perfect body with his mind.

"Outside London, the counties with the highest proportion of Christians are Durham, Merseyside and Cumbria, each with 82 per cent or more."
http://www.statistics.gov.uk/census2001/profiles/commentaries/ethnicity.asp
"The districts with the highest proportions of people with no religion are Norwich, Brighton and Hove and Cambridge, all with over one-quarter."
That was in 2001.

There'll be the breaking of the ancient
western code
Your private life will suddenly explode
There'll be phantoms
There'll be fires on the road
and a white man dancing
You'll see a woman
hanging upside down
her features covered by her fallen gown
and all the lousy little poets
coming round
tryin' to sound like Charlie Manson
and the white man dancin'.

And if you've got an hour and forty-five minutes to spare I offer the past. A total and comprehensive Tribute by the likes of Rufus Wainwright and Bono with retrospective comments from the poet himself.

But if the songs of Canada's greatest poet are too boring you can stare at this counter ticking off the cost of the Iraq War at a rate of a couple thousand dollars every second:
