You can call me TC Posted Dec 5, 2013
There's a song by Dory Previn about the Hollywood sign. I can almost sing it all off by heart, although it must be over 30 years since I listened to it. One line goes "when the time comes for me to go, I'm going to climb that hill and hang myself from the second or third letter "O".
Now it's been mentioned, I'll probably have trouble getting that earworm out of my head. Thanks for that.
Unless I am plagued by the Chupa Chups advert that used to run on Spanish TV back in the 70s.

Ahh... Chupa Chups. I haven't had one of those for years. They really are the BEST lollipops in the world. Such fantastic flavor combinations.

Due to a possible security breach of my ATM account, I just discovered that "h2g2" translates on a phone touch pad as "4242".
Coincidence?

If 2^976 is represented in base 5, the numbers of times the digits 0 through 4 appear are, in order, the primes 73, 79, 83, 89 and 97.
[5 is the first base in which all of the digits of a power of 2 can be counted a prime number of times, and it's unknown what the first power of 2 in base-10 representation has each digit 0-9 counted a prime number of times (over a million, and there is just one large (-ish) exponent that has as many as 8 of the 10 digits counted a prime number of times). Such an exponent (infinitely many of them, in fact) is presumed to exist.]

OK... I have it on good authority* that the velocity of human ejaculate is greater than the escape velocity on the Martian moon Phobos.

I understand that it is most likely that he engines for craft used for the exploration of such parts of the solar system are likely to be hydrogen rocket engines. Ideal because of the clean burn and leaving only water vapour as a by-product of the process.
The down side would be that places like Phobos would be left with a damp patch.
I believe I will get my coat.....

Correction to mine above: 2^19 in base 3 is an exceptional case (In base 3, power of 2 that counts the digits 0-2 each a prime number of times cannot possibly do so with just odd primes (At least one count must be 2); so, while it's most likely unprovable in a mathematical sense that 2^19 is unique, the 'odds' are astronomical that this is the case).

It's a luxury to be a Canadian.
"After adjusting the spending for price and exchange rate,
economists found Canadians need to spend another US$4,000
to buy the same amount of stuff as the average American."

Bubble gum is typically pink because its inventor, Walter Deimer, only had pink food dye in his factory.

Lifted from the BBC news magazine the other day because it made me go "Coo!"
"(Canterbury Cathedral) has been a focal point for Christians ever since but earned a special notoriety following the murder, in 1170, of Archbishop Thomas Becket, apparently on the orders of King Henry II. The grisly act of butchery horrified the Christian world. Soon after there were reports of miracles and Becket's grave became the foremost destination for pilgrims seeking help for whatever ailed them. For those approaching on horseback it was deemed unseemly to travel too quickly.
Rather than gallop towards the shrine, riders adopted the Canterbury Pace, or Canterbury Trot. This has been remembered as "cantering" - a suitably respectful speed."

Polar bears can run nearly as fast as Usain Bolt and can swim more than twice as fast as Micheal Phelps.
(They also like to play Eskimo hot potato.)*
