Oh that reminds me, Adam and the Ants 'Prince Charming' was a rip off of a Rolf Harris song. If you've never heard the RH song the similarity is uncanny.

I've seen the American Werewolf In London pub entry ripped off many many times. There's a commercial out at the moment that rips it off - even the dart missing the dartboard. I wonder if the person who made it up has tried to pass it off as their own idea?

I've heard several arguments on the 'influences' used on the Stone Roses song 'Fools Gold'. I can't see this, but I believe it's based on other tracks, though I've never known which tracks. Does anyone know?

and if we are talking TV then there was a similarity between the Buffy episode where she thought she'd been in a mental institution all the time and the most excellent Red Dwarf episode Back To Reality, where they all thought they'd been in a computer game all the time.

Mentioning Buffy and plagarism without mentioning the episode 'Hush' and the film 'Dark City', what are you thinking? Until later...

I think the Red Dwarf episode with the chameleon girl was from Star Trek. I think they got quite a few other ideas from ST too.

Situation comedy situations - Husband/wife/daughter/son/lodger doesn't want the house sold but are left to show prospective buyers round so deliberately make things look awful. Not sure who the original was though - Bless this house maybe ?

Listen to the first verse of Strawberry Fields and you can tell where Noel Gallagher got his vocal style from!

A song that is blatantly other people's songs cut up and stuck together is 'Heart Like a Wheel' by the Human League.
The verse is from 'Dancing in the Street' by Bowie/Jagger.
The pre-chorus is from the 'however I look it's clear to see...' part of 'Getting Away With It' by Electronic.
The chorus is from the chorus of 'My favourite waste of time' by someone who disappeared off the face of the earth after one hit.
I saw Phil Oakey on the 'Going Live'music panel accusing another act of doing this!

And listen to the chorus of 'Try Outs For The Human Race'
Does it sound familiar?

Girls Aloud's new one (Life Got Cold) and Oasis's Wonderwall...spot the difference?
Let me point out that I don't normally listen to today's drivel (ie pop) but unfortunately was subjected to Radio 1 for a whole week whilst working at a studio recently so heard the new single every 4 hours for 5 days

The Robbie Williams song 'Let Me Entertain You' is similar to the chorus of the Sparks song I was talking about above.

Kid Rock's "American Badass" is quite clearly a note for note reproduction of Metallica's "Sad but True"
with it Homage or plagerism I have no idea.

The Buffy musical episode and the Lexx episode 'Brigadoom'. To me, anyway. The latter does not get near enough credit.
Songwise; that awful song by Whigfield (post- 'Saturday Night', d'know what it was called, something about 'I can't spend another day with you'... <sick> and In the Summertime, by Mungo Jerry. (tho in style, it was more like the version done for the Outspan oranges advert.)

I heard the song by the American Idol winner (I was paying so much attention I can't remember her name),thinking, that sounds familiar. Bugged me for ages until I realized it was Peter Gabriel's "Digging In The Dirt", note for note.
