Where I used to work the canteen used to put pineapple chunks in the curry. Must have been cheaper I suppose. Mattered little , cos there's no way I'm eating a curry with pineapple in it.

Pineapple chunks have forever been tarnished by whoever it was that decided yellow was a good colour for the cleaning blocks they use in gents loos. Too similar to pineapple chunks for anyone to even consider eating them.

Cheese and Jam? I have a friend who eats chesse and jam and I've never understood it.
I used to dip my school fries in the chocolate icing on the cake we had for dessert. That was always a nice if freaky taste.
And brown sauce on baked beans - can't get enough.

I used to dip salt and vinegar crisps in my ice cream, but it had to be cheap puffed wheat crisps and plain ice cream from the ice cream van.... yummy!
As kids we used to eat marmite - Thick marmite, with hundreds & thousands, when we ran out of H&Ts we just used sugar! I haven't tried that recently though...
Ham and grape sandwiches are really nice! Peanut butter & jam - yum. Lemon curd & cheese - yum!
And do you know - I had tuna for breakfast this morning, and I was surprised at how well it went with the coffee! I haven't tried mixing them together yet though...

I used to dip a chicken nugget and a chip in BBQ sauce together and then take a mouthful of strawberry milkshake and hold it in my mouth until I bit the nugget.
It didn't taste very nice but it livened up the meal.

*shudder* Just the vanilla coke is bad enough. Does anyone else consider coke floats to be an abomination against nature?

Just Bob: "And how thick?" - You had the thickness right (about half a centimeter), which is why I didn't mention it. Sorry for the confusion.
Galettes: Sounds like something my wife has gotten addicted to at our local restaurant. They just call them wheatcakes. Buckwheat pancakes with cinnamon and nuts.

For those who've tried tried cheese and jam, I recommend this:
- Take a cream cracker
- Lightly scrape with *real* butter
- Add a medium spreading of a good 'red' jam - strawberry or rasberry
- Cut from a block some 'more than a sliver but less than a slice' pieces of white cheese - creamy lancashire is best, but a bog standard medium cheddar will do.
- Press the cheese *lightly* onto the jam, enough so it sticks in one or two places, not so much that it's plastered right down...
- Eat it.
