He's doing it again:
'Prime Minister Stephen Harper will move to prorogue Parliament for two months until after the Vancouver Winter Olympics, the Prime Minister's Office announced Wednesday.'

So much for democratic reform.

Most politicians are arrogant, Harper is simply extreme.

Surely (and I know you don't mind being called Shirley) the public won't let this one go. They've already started the leaks to documents that prove the government is responsible for detainees being transferred to torturing Afghans. The government's weak response seems to be *The previous government might have done it too so it can't have been wrong.*
I sincerely hope that the Olympics won't add it's distraction for their accountability to the long list of faults it has already achieved. Oh wait, it specialises in distraction in regard to accountability...

Distraction was one of the four arithmetical operations in "Alice in Wonderland." Uglification was another one.

I'm surprised no one on this thread made much of the Canadian Supreme Court's decision a few weeks ago to dismiss claims by Canadian 'Olympic class' skiers that the Canadian Charter of Rights is being violated by the International Olympic Committee's refusal to include a women's downhill category in the upcoming the Winter Games.
But it might explain other downward trends.

Entropy.

Oh. Crap.
You know, I don't have a problem with him using constitutional procedures, except for the fact that he maligned and misrepresented the perfectly constitutional possibility of a coalition a year ago.
This is crappy.

'Five Canadians were killed in Afghanistan on Wednesday — four soldiers and a Calgary reporter.
Brig.-Gen. Daniel Ménard said one Canadian civilian was also wounded in the attack.
The journalist was identified as Michelle Lang, who worked for the Calgary Herald.'

Eight of those are for at least eight American civilians killed in another incident I just heard of as I had started typing.

Yes, I saw the eight as well. Perhaps I didn't put in the eight roses because I'm badly influenced by Faux News -- their eight didn't seem very important to them on their web-page.
But here they are:
I hate to wish my life away, but I wish it were 2011.
(although, if Mr. Harper continues his ways, he may flip that resolution as well.)

Here's what comes ahead of the eight Americans killed in Afghanistan on the Fox News page at this moment:

IAs to that last bit!
My reasoning(for including U.S. citizens)was simple, Michelle the reporter was a civilian as were the Americans. None of them Needed to put themselves in harms way.

with the number of 'contractors' the Americans use, I would hesitate before further information is forthcoming to put the American civilians into the same group as Ms. Lang. They may well be, but they also may well be what the rest of the world calls 'mercenaries'.
the sick kid comment concerns the present level of distraction in my household: when the puke and shite starts to fly, I sometimes make typing errors or worse.

I just read the updated CBC story. Ms. Lang was riding with the soldiers when they hit an IED. It makes me think of Christie Blatchford doing exactly the same thing and 'Fifteen Days' (GG award winner) coming out of the experience. What might we have lost of Michelle Lang's experiences.
