Who has the world's weirdest cat?
Big Red Posted Mar 16, 2004
Mars is utterly fascinated by water, so much so that he has already fallen in both a full bathtub (I pushed him back out with my foot) and the toilet. He pulled his water dish off his mat and turned it over onto the kitchen floor and rug so many times that now we've made a large, heavy, cast iron cook pot (with enamel lining) his water dish. We can't fill it too full, though, because he'll stick his paw in and splash water all over.

Not only do my cats like Sour Cream and Onion flavored Pringles, but Oghma will knock the can over so that he can fish in it for the broken bits.
I suppose it is an indication of the lack of good ingredients in most commercial catfood that both of them might eat any particular tortilla chip or potato crisp, depending on their mood. Ogma will also stick his nose in the bag and consider a chip to hunt, if he feels he is getting an insufficient share.

I can't find anything about Cheeselets on the internet than the fact that they are triangular and made by Danone. What are they, Reefgirl?

I think that is cream cheese, cheeslets are square savoury biscuit type things made by Jacobs.
hope this helps

Our cat eats mice and rabbits but she also has a liking ofr sponge cake-I've had at least two birthday cakes where she's nibbled the top. The other day she got sent out for eating, or trying to, eccles cakes.

Some cats are just fascinated with water!! This reminds me of a funny story, back to my very first cat:
We had our marmalade tom kitten, "Pinky", for all of three days, when I walked by the bathroom and heard a faint mournful little "mew". I looked and couldn't see anything until I looked into the "bowl" -- and saw two little ears and a tiny nose just above the water line!!
I yelled for help and grabbed that little sodden furball JUST in time -- wrapped him in a towel and got my mom's hair dryer. I ran into the living room and with Pinky patted dry in the towel we all (my mom, dad, brother and sister) clustered around and took turns holding that ancient precursor to a blowdrier onto him, until his fur was fluffy, dry and HOt to the touch! Such a fuss!! Such attention!!
About a week later, while passing by the bathroom again, I heard a decidedly jaunty "meow!" from the bowl, where Pinky was waiting happily for his rescuer! After that, we always had to keep the lid on the toilet down!

Bingers was actually put anesthesia for a teeth cleaning today. He was very unhappy when I just went to pick him up though. I think the anesthesia disagreed with him. He was pressed in the back of the kennel hissing and growling at everyone including me. He is the most laid back cat so this is unusual. Anesthesia disagrees with me too and in concert with narcotic pain killers (which he was also on cause of the abcess) I have felt extremely anxious coming out myself so I can see why he's unhappy. I decided to leave him there overnight since I have a dog too and he wouldn't understand why Bingers wanted to be left alone and there is nowhere to put him really where he can really be left alone. I feel really bad about it though. I didn't know what would be better. Hopefully his behaviour is just a reaction to the anesthetic.

All:
This is not so much a "weird" story as a concern. I just put the most recent addition to my family in the vets. She turned six months about a month ago, so I scheduled her for a spaying.
All cats have their own personality and this one was of a loving sort. That is until we put her in a cage in preparation for the vet visit. She is now all upset and aggetated. Only time will tell about how long she will be upset.

Now if you leave basket open on floor at odd ocassions over the next year, putting treats inside some time hidded at back of basket
Then next time you need to take her to vet going into basket is nice
Foooooooooood motivation and familuarity

What a great idea!
I leave the carriers out all the time; maybe if I only dragged one or the other (or neither!) out at a time and "baited" them, it wouldn't still be such a challenge to take the little fuzzballs in to the vets.
Thanks!

Logicus:
Yes the food idea is very good! Should have thought of somtething like that a month ago, when I made the appointment!
Just received a call from the vet. The spaying was accomplished but not before she scored on several lab techs! They had to use gas to put her out because they could not hold her for an injection. The vet believes that she is not an aggresive cat, which she is not, just that she was freaked out.
She also got her first round of shots, and tested for feline lukemia (which she does not have!)

Cat 1, lab techs 0.
It's funny how being at the vet changes a cat's behavior; my cat IS at times aggressive, though only to people he is comfortable with. But when I took him to the vet a few months ago, he was so nervous from the car ride, the dogs, and the strange smells that when the vet showed up, he just sat there like a lump and tried to make himself as small as possible. Then, as we were waiting in the examining room for the vet to return, he finally relaxed enough to start jumping on counters and exploring!

We've taken our cat to the vet once. Living in the coutry, away from other cats, and as she stays at home during the hols, rather than in a cattery, there's no need for feline flu jabs. This was for an eye problem.
In the car going she made a noise that my brother described as like a doodlebug's take-off. She was alright one she was in the examination room, and she knew she was coming home as she didn't make so much of a noise. She's a right pain to medicate though. Do not talk to me about worming tablets!

It takes two of us to get tablets down Emma one to hold and one to get the tablet down, I took Masky to the vet on the bus once, being little and light I carried her in a basket instead of getting a cab, never again, she howled the entire way, she could be heard over the engine, I died of embarrasment

Bingers has recovered from the anesthesia and is back to his normal snuggly self. I've never seen him like that. Ever. It was very traumatic. I was afraid I was going to be bringing home a completely different cat. He had an abcess and has to take antibiotics for a while. I was given a liquid with a dropper which he puts up with pretty well. I always give him a snack right after doing it. The snack now is soft food which he usually doesn't get. I think he is starting to get it that he gets the food after the dropper cause he went into the bathroom where we do the dropper when I got out the tin of food.
