Well, it depends what you mean by 'distorts'... if you're using a valve amp made any time after, say, 1968 the distortion is actually A Good Thing (especially if you then bung a load of fuzz on top like what I do). And if you have proper pre and post stages, even in a solid state amp, having the pre up high and the post quite low should give you decent distortion at neighbour friendly volumes. If it's (as suggested by GT) the speakers that are distorting... well, it was good enough for Ray Davies!
I'm a Peavey man myself. They might not be as glamorous as Marshall and Orange but they're good solid amps and massively underrated.
PH: the endless waiting for someone to make me a serious offer to jam with them so I can take Eric The Destroyer out and see what those 160 watts (12 valves!) can really do.

PH: Neighbours who don´t understand that tube amps need to be given a bit of wellie.

Hoh yus... I'm slowly increasing the volume and haven't had any complaints yet!

Rightyho. Old roadies´ rule: one tube watt equals five transistor watts. They won´t even hear the ambulance that takes them to the funny farm. 160 x 5?

Need to get another 4x12 cab too. Just, y'know, because.

Aww, my PH are people who think small. A Shearer bin in the lounge might just fit in if you evict the missus.

PH: when you write a word so often you're no longer sure it's spelled right, or for that matter, an actual word

Ooh, I hate that too... and then you spend ages repeating the word in your head until it just becomes entirely meaningless.

And another one: having my workstation in the break room, and people's failure to respect that yes, I am working.
No, the fact that I don't want to hear in great detail how you went to a gay bar and got laid last night doesn't make me homophobic, it just means I'm trying to concentrate on something else

Mala - I'm with you on the spelling thing...
And if you say the word "From" enough times, it sounds very odd... But then again, anyone listening to you saying "From" over and over will *think* you're very odd...
PH? Getting a bit of apple skin stuck between your teeth so firmly you can feel it pushing your teeth apart - but not having a toothpick or anything similar to hand!

If you've got a stapler, activate it on empty air then straighten out the staple at one end - it works as a makeshift toothpick.
I know, cos that drives me crazy too!

I have this problem at times too. I call it word blindness. On occassions I also struggle to make out words when I am reading even though I have come across them innumerable times nefore
PH #3: Movie DVDs that need the volume turned way up to hear the dialogue, which in turn makes the music and sound effects unbearably loud. The sound volume should be levelled out a lot more on some movies.

PH: the fact there are some words I clearly cannot spell, such as critiscism, and I'm an English student. I should be able to spell these, right? Apparently not...
