Same here. And the poor peasants in the UK still donĀ“t get "Dinner for One" whilst we krauts get six or so versions.

Sho - employed again!

But there is nothing wrong with lots of versions of Dinner for One.
I'm patiently waiting to watch the Ruhrpott version later

I agree so much on the CD cases. I found one - that I hadn't even had for a week - scattered all over the dining floor the other day. I might have even mentioned it here.

And cardboard or paper containers for food such as sugar, oats, etc are a pain, but I just cut off the top generously and then pour the lot into a tupperware or glass container. I never bother with the fiddly little perforated openings, especially in the paper bags that sugar comes in, as it gets flicked all over the place, even if you dip a spoon in to spoon the granules out.

And if the above sounds familiar, I've already said that that's how I deal with milksmiley - milk/juice<oj) cartons. Life's too short to fiddle about with food packaging.

I'm with you there on the food packaging, it's fiddly and putting it into sealed containers keeps the food moths out. Pesky things.

Do you remember getting milk here in polythene bags? They were truly pesky.

Way back when I worked for a trade show organiser, we had a CD-ROM & multimedia conference (1991 when it was really exciting) and there was a section on peripherals. One guy was showing his company's CD jewel cases and he really peeved the sound guys because he put one on the table and then from nowhere produced a mallet of cartoon proportions and smashed it on the case. Not a scratch (and nothing happened to the CD inside either)

I've still got one and it's brilliant - but I have no idea what happened to the company.

yes - inbuilt obscolescence is the only way to ensure your company survives.

I had a similar PH. Mum-in-law used to say 'Ignorance is bliss' as a justification for not finding out to much about something. I told her the proverb was "IF ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise", but she didn't get the point.

Anna Siren- the heathen of the deep, according to iTunes...

Radio 1 are running a Twatshite special now. They're all a bunch of twats. Who the hell thought this would make good radio?! We can add the DJ into that too, he sounds awful.

I think I shall go and dictate some Shakespeare notes now...

PH: Radio bloody 1.

I'm not too technic-savvy, but wonder if there is a problem with BBC interactive forums. The Archers may be causing something of a log jam.

CD: Perhaps your Mum was looking for the saying "what the eye doesn't see, the heart doesn't grieve over"

A favourite of my Mum's was "no sense, no feeling" You'd be amazed how often that applies - not only to naughty little boys, too. I found myself using it only recently.

The Groob

This gets my goat every new year. The Sound of 2011.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-12095716

I've looked at the list of all the 15 artists:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/soundof/2011/artists/

and two things strike me: the listees either look like models or have a very distinctive, deliberate image. So it's pointless to list these people as "the sound" when, in reality, the appearance is one of main factors in deciding if they are added to the list. The headline should read "The people who are the sound of 2011 but also have the right look".

Clare Maguire takes the top spot and you can guarantee one thing - if she looked like the back end of a bus, someone else would've taken the top spot. In fact, we would probably have never heard of Clare Maguire, regardless of musical talent.
