If this council official does believe that the Earth is flat and also dresses as a Pirate to worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster, then I guess it is insulting. Context, eh?

Forget the Flying Spaghetti Monster, what about the Monster Raving Loony Party and its devotees?

Another petty hate:
The habit shops have developed lately of sorting things by *brand*, rather than type of product

I have to cycle to and from work every day. So often I find that pedestrians waiting to cross the road assume that the way is clear because they can't hear anything and, stepping out into the road without looking, nearly get hit by me on bike and then have the cheek to give me a dirty look.

I hate it when people dont give me all their money for no reason other than they feel I could use it better than them. Unfortunately, this is become particularly bad at the moment and I'm getting rather bitter...

Remerchandising plans that have no bearing on the geography of the shop floor. Possibly in this case, the physics!

I look forward to the day when service providers send you an email saying "Sorry we weren't working for a couple of hours yesterday" rather than trying to keep up the illusion of infallibility. Mind you, less people would call premium rate phonelines then.

Whenever something inconvenient happens and is claimed to be 'pour mieux vous servir' - to serve you better.
I can accept that sometimes it may be necessary to close down the only post office within reasonable distance, to shorten public opening hours of some administration, or to replace actual people by 'vocal boxes' (?) to answer the phone, but why claim that it is done for customers' ease

Lovely brand new sofa bed that won't fit up the stairs, meaning it'll need to be dismantled and then hoisted through a loft window

Having surprise photoshoots at the last second, because people "forgot" to tell you. Fortunately, I wasn't busy last night... but if I had plans, it'd been tough - it would not be fault but the person for "forgetting."

Acutally "under par" (or "below par" to use the proper phrase) to mean "bad" is quite acceptable since "par" means "equal" or "average" (it's Latin and therefore predates golf by some considerable time).
