Birmingham Yardley had the fourth-lowest turn-out in the country, and no wonder.

So - how did Clarkson do? Pretty well, I reckon, though I don't usually like him. I thought he managed the autocue well - the eybrows helped - I've been trying to pin down why some people don't look good reading it.

Well, I thought he was okay - but surprisingly bland. I thought today's episode was weaker than most.

Interesting. Normally I consider Clarkson to be a smug, self-satisfied insufferable oaf, but having seen him on HIGNFY....

Perfect! Right-wing dissent with a luxurious genuine leather interior and an engine that purrs like an overfed Lion. Give him the job!

Only saw secong 1/2 but he seemed to put more of himself into it than any of the others, didn't simply read the scripted jokes and interacted well with the guest.
Don't like him as a person, but then not sure I could say I loke AD as a person either.

The Paul McCartney/Mark Chapman joke went down particularly well, I thought.

I missed the playfull feeling of show with Clarkson. some of jokes were too cramptly read. Clarkson read a joke, but he had no comedy timing. Clarkson was reading news at 10 in the wrong studio and wrong auto cue.
....this was no-cheek-hurts-of-laughing episode!

If your measuring it like that Boris Johnson made me laugh the most so he's the best to take over. Remember people get better at presenting over time.

Correction: MOST people get better at presenting over time. The exception to this rule is Richard Whiteley.

Yes - a very bad one!
Actually, I'd be intrigued to see him as a Guest Host. Would he be able to keep up? Or have I 'misunderestimated' him?

Let's face it, Angus is the Man.
Did you hear the re-activated Radio Active?
Did you see the Peter Cook tribute?
Working from a script, or having learned his part, his delivery was impeccable.
He's served his sentence.
He's been re-habilitated.
Let's get him back so we can concentrate on the serious stuff without the distraction of comparing the failings of the temps.

I did manage to listen to an episode of Radio Active, but I'll need to hear a few more before I can decide whether or not it gets Mr T Approved Status. When I return to lovely broadband I'll see if I can stream it from the Radio on Demand website.

Angus Deayton is absolute rubbish. HIGNY is very dull and long past it's best. Satire of that nature is so terribly tedious. Also, Angus is one of the nastiest men in television. He is also talentless and one of the most uptight humourless b*****s I have ever met.
