A bit wet, but it's not raining. I can't see the top of Cyprus Mt. but I can see across to downtown. The sky is grey-white.

Canberra, 8:30pm Tuesday 20 January.
It was about 32 or 33C today; it's now about 25C, still, just starting to get dark. Cloud building up.

Cicadas silent (good), bottle empty (bad). There will be other bottles, though. The cicadas might have packed it in for the season.

About 28C, dry and dusty. Cloud building up again. It delivered nothing yesterday, so I'm hoping it actually does something tonight.
Ivan.

Vancouver, Canada. 11:45am.
Rather sunny and cheerful, with an edge of bleakness. I can see to the top of the cloud-shrouded Cyprus Mt and across to the line of Downtown, but there is more white than blue in the sky, and I don't think this sun will last.

Thursday 22 January, 10:25. Ipswich, Great Britain.
STILL cloudy although not actually raining. Ridiculously mild this week (9 or 10 celcius) - we get colder weather than this in April! What's going on?

Oooh, Luxemburg sounds really nice!
I think the weathermen are forecasting some proper winter weather for Britain next week - so I shall probably be complaining that it is too cold! (No pleasing some people).

Windy today. I hope that all the rumours about us getting that Artic wind are true-I could do with a day off.

Currently raining here, Exeter, Devon, UK, 19:06 local time
I spent the day in the Met Office Met Centre, shadowing the chief and deputy chief forecasters. It was great fun.

January brings the snow,
Makes your feet and fingers glow.
February's ice and sleet,
Freeze the toes right off your feet.
Welcome, March, with wint'ry wind,
Would thou weren't not so unkind.
April brings the sweet spring showers,
On and on for hours and hours.
Farmers fear unkindly May,
Frost by night and hail by day.
June just rains and never stops,
Thirty days and spoils the crops.
In July the sun is hot,
Is it shining?
No it's not!
August, cold and dank and wet,
Brings more rain than any yet.
Bleak September's mist and mud,
Is enough to chill the blood.
Then October adds a gale,
Wind and slush and rain and hail.
Dark November brings the fog,
Should not do it to a dog.
Freezing wet December, then...
Bloody January again!
