Snow last night but it's all gone now. Apart from that it's cold but unlike Manchester no rain hear yet.

London January 17th 0930
I think this the first frost I've seen in London all winter. It's been so mild up to now. I haven't been out yet but it looks freezing.
I was speaking to my boss in Boston yesterday where it was -18c with a wind chill of -45c.

Cold again today but no snow and no rain. I don't think there was a frost this morning but the gritters are out tonight so they must they must be expecting one tommorow.

Canberra 6:15pm 18 January.
About 23C, sunny, strong breezes. Quite pleasant. Roses and lavander in bloom.
(A year ago today, it was as hot as hell and the sky was black and orange. Thick smoke, carbonised leaves and ash falling from the sky, and a state of emergency declared as the western suburbs burned. ABC Radio 666 [great call-sign!] constantly reporting fresh outbreaks, evacuations, destruction and death.)
What a difference a year makes.
Ivan.

Outside (not that I've yet been there) is white. White in the sky from a heavy fog and white on the ground from the frost we had last night.

Wow, what a poetic description of Heathrow!
Here in Lux (11p.m CET) I've just walked back from the bus-stop, and it's well below freezing. Frost on all the cars, slightly slippery underfoot, grass verges crackly hard

It´s cold, very cold. It´s freezing cold.
A friend told me some minutes ago, she could not get into her car, because the doors were iced and her keys have been attached to the lock.
And more important is, it´s freezing cold in my flat, because I don´t have a heater, just a coal-burning stove.
(I´m sorry for my english. I´m still learning..)

Yeah, here in central Europe the cold is *really* cold. I've just packed my daughter off on a 2 week skiing trip to the Italian Alps - hope she has enough warm clothes

This is one of the craziest days I have seen so far here in the Northeast of Brazil. It is supposed to be summer, which means temperatures of 30 or so, but today, suddenly, there came a cool breeze that turned into a wind and the temp. sank to 24°C, something we don't even see in the so called winter, which is the supposedly rainy season, but everything seems upside down, here too! Summers too hot, rainy season without rain, rain in summer...I just put on a shirt with long sleeves and my grandson said I looked just like the women on television. Poor thing, he never sees anything but little skimpy cotton tops on us women. Would be nice if the "cold" could stay for a while!

North Vancouver, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
7:19pm.
Dark, rainy, but clear. The view of the line of downtown is uninterrupted, and the lights reflect off the water like drawn out neon strips. The mountains, close by, are swathed in grey wet cloud.

Somewhere in the low 20's; clear sky; very still. Sunlight just starting to turn yellowish-golden. Parrots twittering away.

*I* didn't want the Olympics at all! At the time I was a Scouser, Manchester just contains my university of choice. If it'd just stop raining I might summon up the energy to revise
