A skiff of snow (is that how it's spelt?) with brilliant sunny skies, most unusual for a rain forest. We'll enjoy the crisp, clean air, sunshine, and the -7C while we can. Soon it will be rain down here and lots of snow in the mountains.
Hope every one enjoyed Christmas and will have fun for New Year.

Melbourne, Australia Wednesday 1140am
Already 26C, sunshine, no wind. It only needs to get to 28C and we will officially have Melbourne's hottest December since 1873.
Happy New Year

Sorry, crazyhorse- Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
And it is snowing heavily now, most unusual. We haven't had this for very many years in January. I was wearing a t-shirt this time last year. So much for global warming..

Wythenshawe Park, Manchester, 8:15am:-
just getting to be daylight.
About two below freezing. Icy breeze. Autumn's dead leaves bleached out by a sprinkling of frost. I have just seen a dog fox trot accross Wythenshawe Road as if it's got all the time in the world. It came out of somebody's front garden, so evidently they've just had their bin done over.
Ah, how my employers pay me in scenery....

Dec. 31, 18.27 local time, Northeast of Brazil. Having a heat wave and the temperature is still 29°C. A very happy New Year to all the weather reporters. Lots of love for everyone because that is the only thing that counts.

Snow again in Vancouver, Canada.
Not what I wanted for my days off (unless it was in the mountains). Oh well, I'll just watch the cars skid about below me.

Canberra, Australia - 1 Jan 2004, 6pm.
It's about 37C, at a guess; at least, that's what it was at 3:30, and it doesn't feel any cooler. This is the hottest 1 January ever recorded in Canberra. Even the birds have fallen silent. It's a pity the cicadas haven't.
There are a lot of very unhappy-looking people wandering down the street. Poor things; this is not the sort of weather that you want with a hangover...
