Not Christmas yet. (late) Solstice Blessings, Maz.
13C Low overcast has been misting since about 1620. A nice slow warm front. The barometer is falling fast, and my joints are aching, so we will get some heavy rain tomorrow. If so, it'll be the first heavy rain since the fires, so some may not have so happy a Christmas.
Hummers seem to be anticipating the storm, and so they have been guzzling and are cooperative (for hummingbirds) at the feeder. My passionvine A. apetala has decided to bloom again, this time the caterpillars can't move fast enough to eat them because of the cold, and the blooms are quite pretty and dainty.

My feet are blue with cold. It is sleeting with persistance outside. I think I'm going to have to say to heck with the gas bill and put the heating back on.

15C. Thinly overcast, another nice slow warm front. There's a light eastish breeze, enough to tickle the honeysuckle and fuchsia leaves but not enough to turn the copper-doily style wind-spinner; my guess more than 3 mph but less than 7.
I joke to east coast (USA) friends and relations that California really does have 4 seasons, Fire, Mudslide, Earthquake and Riot, but there's some seriousness behind it. (We actually have three-ish seasons, spring from 31 Oct to 14 Feb or so, autumn 'til the end of Feb, an then spring again until 6 June or so, then summer until October again) I'm about to be morbid so you can skip the rest of this if you are not inclined.
Paso Robles' old town was built not too long after the SF quake of 1906, so we-all still hadn't really gotten the idea that brick is a miserable building material. California was settled by health nuts and there was (and is now, due to the quake!) a hot springs there it was something of a mini-Lourdes. Otherwise, there wasn't a particular reason to build there. 2 dead there, but quite reasonable compared to Iran's count for the same 6.5 magnitude.
Darwin Awards go to those who thought it was a swell Christmas idea to camp in a canyon, ->in the rain!<-, ->just below a huge fire burn!<-, in an area where the non-burned trees were mostly dead from drought and not drinking water and no longer having vigorous roots to act as a slope stabilizer. It looks like about 10 dead there, 5 times the toll from the earthquake.

About 40C and windy. Scarey weather - usually means grass fires and sometimes bushfires. Certainly not what you would ever call 'pleasant'!!
Although there is always an 'upside' - one MUST keep up the fluids!! and nobody has ever said that they HAVE to be water!!!
