Misty, damp and grey. What the Irish would call a "soft" day.

Cool, moist and starless. Several storm systems have gone through lately, but the earth is quiet now, and there's not much smog to speak of. Most of the weather is people created, to wit:
People have finally learned to drive home in the dark (daylight savings started 31 Oct) and the 2 hours commute home from the coast has reverted to the usual 50 min. If LA wasn't so car-centered, I would say it seemed that people (in the cars) were on the edge of riot. I know this is wrong in my head, because if Angelenos are good at anything, it's a decent flash-mobbery.
The area is currently emergency-service-ish, the night is stuffed with the sounds and shapes of ambulance sirens, much helicopterages and vehicles suddenly stopped and strobed by sherriff's cars, all within a few blocks.
And the reek of someone's broken septic tank has stil not gone away since the last two weeks. If I can smell it, everyone else around has to be really suffering. Fix it already! I think they really love cabbage, but given the density of Russians nearby, this is not much of a guess.

A walk to the station looking out at the cloud covering the high hills and moorland, bright almost white in colour. Along the train journey the mist hung in the valley bottoms, snaking round with the river. Nearer the big city and the white cloud has turned grey and water hits the windows of the carriage, thankfully not too hard to come in through the open windows. A short walk across town in the damp air and I'm once again inside, where it feels very warm compared to the outside world beyond the windows.

Very dull and grey - typical murky November weather really, apart from the temperature still feeling milder than I would expect for November. It's the sort of dull day that necessitates having the lights on all the time.

Bright and sunny and clear blue skies. A little chilly but really a lovely November day.

It was really cold last night - 2 degrees according to my car thermometer at about 10 pm.
So no surprises to wake up to a snowy landscape this morning!
It's not lasting though - current temperature is about 5 or 6, so it's turning to slush and the current precipitation is grey mizzle rather than snow.

We're having our first real taste of Fall, tropics-style. It's quite windy, the palm trees are making a constant rustling. The sky is sunny with patches of clouds skudding past. I have the house open, papers on my desk had to be weighed down or I'd be in a blizzard. This morning it was cool enough that I put on a long-sleeved shirt with my shorts, though it's now warmed up enough that I'll slip into my usual tank-top when I go outside to wash the car.
I planted my Fall garden yesterday, am looking forward to a great cascade of blossoms outside my windows in another couple of weeks when the flowers expand to fill their pots.

Autumn in Florida sounds rather nice.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the pond (Ipswich, GB, 14:25, 11/11/04), the sun is out and the sky is blue-ish. It's a bit parky in the breeze, but not bad for the time of year.
