The hills on the far side of the valley have their tops covered in snow. For a few short minutes the colour of this is first a light pink turning to gold to orange and then to white again as the sun creeps up in the sky. On the other side of the valley the snow is a cold steely blue in the shadows with only a few glimmers that the sun will come out by illuminating ridges in the same pink colours as further away across the valley.
The sky is blue with just aircraft contrails in the sky and the temperature is probably just a few degrees under zero but as there is no wind it feels fine.

Did you get any snow in Clacton? There hasn't been any here but my boss comes in from Braintree and they had snow overnight.

1800ish 3 December Los Angeles
The weather has been very autumnal, with warm afternoons and chilly mornings and evenings. This is the kind of weather that really brings out the 'shorts people'.
That is to say, because Los Angeles is balmy most of the year and makes a point of appearing very relaxed on it's surface, shorts are anywhere from OK to de rigeur as a fashion item. But there are those who are from colder climes, or who are generally insensitive from the cold, or who just like wearing shorts.
And, now the evening temps are getting near 48 F or so, you can tell exactly who these people are.

Canberra, Australia.
It's been raining on and off for days - hooray!! Hopefully it is falling in the water catchment areas so that the dams fill a little. I think it is around 15C outside and we've been having maximums of about 25.
V. odd because last month it was almost 40C. That usually only happens here from late Jan through to Mar.

Last night it was cold and crisp. Below freezing and very clear.
This morning however it had warmed up and was foggy all the way into work. Even though it was above freezing it felt cold as it was that damp cold in the fog.
