"Men are Weak"
Well, I went to see it on christmas day and loved it first...yet the more I think about it the more annoyed I get about some things. Like how there was no conspiracy, Merry & Pippin just seemed to happen to wind up going along for no particular reason except comic relief and how dark Lothlorien was. But still. Viggo Mortensen is soo right, and of course so is Ian Holm. On the whole:
With the promise of extra scenes on the DVD, I might just have to go out and get me a DVD player

Lord of the Rings film - triumph or disaster?

Some people could call me unqualified to pass judgement on the film, but I thought the Fellowship of the Ring was a great movie. I esp. liked Moria (my favoite part of the book), I thought the SE on the Bulrog where extra-ordinary. However, I am disgrunteled they cut out Tom Bombadil.

How could people call you unqualified to pass judgement on the film if you've seen it? There may be a lot of enthusiasts on this thread, but there's no entrance exam.

I have not read all the backlog, but has anybody noticed we have already seen the beginning of the Two Towers? The book ends with Boromir alive, only Sam thought he heard cries behind him...
If I take one step more, it's farther than I have ever been away.

Think it has been noted, but now I am re-reading book I wouldn't mind betting the on the Frodo/Sam story line they actually end the Two Towers film (will it actually be called this???) before the book, as the Sam and Frodo story line isn't a huge part of the Return of The KIng, and chronolically goes further than the other threads in Two Towers.
My bet is they leave the Frodo/Sam story with them leaving Faramir's company, them entering the passage of Shelob's lair, but not the fight etc.
Mmm maybe anaylising a bit much here.

There are more possible clifhangers. Another one might be when Frodo and Sam are "enlisted" and start marching with the orcs.
The first and second part would end the same way then, only with different hobbits.

Strider officially thinks Ba'alzamon is qualified to discuss the movie... he just isn't qualified to say that he has seen the movie, for he has only seen a camcorder recording of a movie theatre playing LOTR.
