I didn't pick reenactment to impress women, that would be a bad strategy I'd say. I just liked it. The problem is the hobbies I like tend to be the ones that have about 90% guys. Except for volleyball.

A lot of *people* are best avoided. But generally all the women who I say are best avoided fall into one category: the vapid, self-centred, closed-minded. A woman who would not date someone just because she thought he was a geek is in that category.

I may have mistyped that number. Also, I do feel I know myself, that doesn't mean I don't intend to improve on that. However being yourself doesn't appear to be muh use with women, if you're not the right person to begin with.

Xan, I don't know if this makes you feel any better, but 3 of my best female friends are single, looking, and absolutely scunnered* at the lack of nice friendly blokes out there!

And yes they've tried internet dating - get very fed up of the "Have you got a webcam?" requests.

I'm matchmaking one of them at the minute - I know a sweet guy who I think would have similar interests and outlook on life to friend J. I shall let you know how this goes!

Nice, friendly guys are a dying breed. I've never heard scunnered though, I might need to use that in the future.

I was talking to NepalGirl at a party yesterday, discussing TedTalks, psychiatry and other odds and ends. Quite a shame about that boyfriend of hers. At the end she actually mentioned that she'd quite like to see me again. That felt nice at least.

I went to an Amnesty International introduction meeting tonight, I need to be part of something bigger. I only arrived 5 minutes before it ended sadly, but looking at the composition of the audience there, it might just be the organisation for me.

So NepalGirl just broke up with her boyfriend. Hmmm.

That's... dangerous. Chances are she's emotionally vulnerable and if you make a move you will, intentionally or not, be exploiting that.

That's probably true. Incidentally, I met up with her for coffee today.

Just be cool, y'hear... I mean, you gotta make Samuel L. Jackson look like a try-hard wannabe with your sheer coolness... neither assume nor expect anything, that way it'll be more the sweeter if it happens *and* not having tried to make it happen would absolve you of any exploitiness.

Sadly exploitiness seems a requisite for getting relationships.

If you're going to exploit people for a relationship, look in the phone book under "escorts" - that way, at least the terms are clear from the start.
