It's kind of changed from looking for nice friendly girls, to looking for girls that just aren't completely horrible.

So the Bulgarian girl I went out with has a boyfriend. Shame.

Shame on me for assuming she would pick up on the meaning of this. I really need to be more direct in the future.

I have been arranging a number of events recently, which has let me meet more women and people in general. Sadly they mostly know each other, so I can't really ask them all out. Problematic.

Today I asked out one of the girls, who it seemed I would have most of a chance with. No luck though. I was talking a bit to one girl who is a postdoc in embryonic development, and she'll be here for two years. She'll be at a thing tommorow, I might ask her out as well.

It would appear that the events I've been doing have resulted in two couples. I guess I should be happy for them, but I do rather wish I was in one of them.

But at least you've been busy. That can't be all bad.

I have had fun doing these events and it has been a good distraction. Next month I might be moving to a bigger city as well, which should mean more nice, friendly girls.

Yep, new job and I'll be working from home so in theory I can move to where I want.

I was at a party tonight where that French postdoc was as well. Sadly I didn't really get to talk to her properly. There was also another girl there who was interesting. She went to Nepal and did volunteer work when she was 19, I think that is pretty cool. Already taken of course.

So what are you doing to make yourself more interesting? You've got to have some hobby that isn't obsessing about girls...

Hey, obsessing about girls takes up a lot of my time. I must admit I have become more boring in the last few years. I used to do medieval reenacment like you. That is interesting and unusual, but also something that I think would just make a girl categorize me as a geek.

How close are you with this "acquaintance". Could you hang out together? Knowing a fella has a friend might make a good impression on the girls. It helps if you share a sense of humour and are seen laughing.

Women who would see that as a negative are best avoided and not doing something you enjoy because of what other people might think is just silly.

Mr Dreadful: you seem to think a lot of women are best avoided, you do realize there are only 2,5 billion of them, right? It's a bit like the Drake equation. You might start out with billions of stars in the galaxy, but when you factor in all the criteria, you end up with just a handful of possible planets with civilizations, all of which are far away ones that you will never encounter.
Also I might have formulated it wrong, the reason why I stopped with medieval reenactment was that I moved to a place were it wasn't an option.

The "aquintance" is one of the people who have been coming to the events I've been organizing over the summer. We will probably be hanging out more if I get the chance to.

I wouldn't have a non-geek myself. I'd have to have to give up gaming and re-enactment.

Did you enjoy mediaeval enactment? Yourself - just you, not as a ploy or device to attract women?

I think there's a fundamental need to know yourself first, rather than just chameleon into what you perceive will or wont attract women. a) this is manifestly an unsuccessful approach, and b) do you really think you can pigeon-hole all of womankind in that way?

What do women want?

A partner who is their own person, knows what they like, and is confident enough to be different.
