Well with TransylvaniaChick I think I´m heading right for the friend zone which is surprisingly fast. I´ll have to see if I can somehow divert the course. I guess I´ll ask her for a proper restaurant dinner with candle lights and all, maybe that will be a hint.

Transylvania, hmmmmmm, does she speak Romanian or more likely Hungarian? You could try offering her Slivovitza (phonetic spelling - sorry) It's a really potent East European Plum Brandy Very few of those make me extremely squiffy though it is a little too sweet for my palate

She speaks Romanian. It turned out she´s actually from the Carpathian Mountains and was only studying in Transylvania. That´s still cool though.

I have a couple of Romanian friends They laugh at my pathetic attempts at Romanain as Romalish(sic) One simply can't speak Romamnian with a British accent, old chap Apparently it just doesn't sound quite right

Luckily she speaks about 4 other languages. She doesn´t like vampire jokes though.

I´m not sure where I´ll get plum brandy, I´m going to try with some mead instead. I have checked though, she does have a reflection. We did have a long discussion about vampire myths. Apparently Transylvania myths tend to be more about werewolves than vampires.

Good news everyone. I asked out TransylvaniaChick again, and this time she understood it was meant as a date. Hazzah. So a minor victory there. Of course that meant she turned me down. She said her life was a trainwreck right now and she didn't need anything complicated. Probably not true, but a decent way to turn someone down.

I have a crush on someone I'm kind of twitterpated about. I think he might like me too, but I'm not at all sure. I love/hate this stage of relationships. I get the worst crushes and it's often all for naught. It's like reliving high school.

So TransylvaniaChick who didn´t want anything complicated in her life has, not surprisingly, just started a relationship.

I also managed to screw up another thing in the meantime. I was teaching Danish to an Italian, as I think I mentioned before. We both got the impression that the other person was into us, which seems to have been more of a misunderstanding. One evening things got a bit hot and heavy, but the next day she told me she wanted to take things slow instead. Which I assumed meant she wanted to take things slow. It was only after a month of rather frustrating dating that I ended up asking her outright if we were really still dating or if we had given up on that. Turns out she thought we were meeting just as friends. Apparently when she said slow down, she meant stop. I didn´t argue the point, as I don´t think things would have gone anywhere even if we had been dating.

Sounds like life is complicated

So I asked TransylvaniaChick outright, why she hadn´t wanted to date me. I just got a reply about her not feeling anything for me, rather than anything specific. Not that helpful.

A guy I know is doing rather well with women, seemingly due to him chasing anything in a skirt and not taking no for an answer. "stalkerish psycho" is how one girl described him. Is that the kind of thing I need to do? Would that make me seem more or less pathetic than I am now?

Gosh, that's rather blunt!

"The feeling" is very important to us gals, you know, we don't have a checklist of hair and eye colour, height, shoe size, star sign etc.

Define "doing rather well with women".

Yes but it would have been helpful to know if it had been something more specific. Too boring, too smart/dumb, too skinny/fat.

In his case, "doing well with women" means sleeping with a lot of them. He´s also a physics student, making it more impressive.

Chasing anything in a skirt is desparate. Not taking "no" for an answer is psychologically only a few steps away from taking it by force. And being regarded as the "stalkerish psycho" is just not good at all.

There is nothing pathetic about a woman turning you down or not having "the feeling" about you (and yes, us men have that too... if you approach potential relationships as a box ticking exercise you're pretty much setting yourself up for disappointment). To believe that is to buy into the appalling heteronormitive lie Hollywood tells us about the correlation between happiness and finding The One.
