It's all sorted now! In the past a gf of J went back to her ex and that's why he's so uptight about C staying over as he's worried that it will happen to him again. I've dis-invited C and I'm going to J's for the whole weekend so that there won't be any suspicion that I'm secretly seeing C.

I did think I'd be putting my foot down and demanding to be allowed to see whom ever I want - but when it came down to it J was much more important to me than having C to stay over.

All I've got to do now is explain it to C - ain't going to be easy!

Sorry for not replying yesterday, J and I took the day off work to spend some time together. We did nothing but listen to music and eat biscuits all day! I would have appreciated all your advice had I read it in time.

Sounds like you've got it sorted! Guess it boils down to who's most important.


Boys - how come they're all eager and stuff, and if they want you to come round (for instance), they'll say "ooh please come round, I'd really like to see you" etc. and things like that, so you think they're fabulous, cuz they're so honest and make you feel really wanted, and you fall, and you tell them you've fallen, and then they're like "oh btw, you can come round if you want" and that's it.

Queegle, its because once you know that you've succeded in getting a girl, you don't have to go through all the overacting and general haming it up, that it required to convince a girl that you like them.
To many Romantic movies and books, means that instead of just saying;

"I really like you, do want to come round?"

You have to say;

"Hist what light is this before me, is an angel sent down to bless us meer mortals with her beauty. No it is who beauty outshines even that of heaven and fills my heart with joy and song."

Or some such twaddle

*takes out notebook and starts scribbling down*

"I really like you, do want to come round?" would do, over "you can come round if you want"

Don't boys realise that the automatic 'not bothering' is most confusing, and leads the girl to be disinterested, cuz she doesn't think he's fussed anymore?

And what about all the "playing hard to get" that we have to put up with?

But it´s also difficult for us. If a girl acts like she´s not interested in me, I assume she´s not interested in me. It doesn´t make me try harder.

You want us to go prancing around all the time Queegle. Most guys only have a limited prancing routine, you would get bored if we kept doing it. That and it's knackering and we wouldn't have any energy for er.. 'other' activities.

Or if he kept saying it all the time, it would have less meaning each time he said it, until it had no meaning at all.

I don´t even know how to prance. But I imagine it is like that both ways. Once a couple thinks they have each other, they start taking each other a bit for granted. You wouldn´t dress up as much for meeting up with your long term boyfriend, as you did on your first date either would you?

I don't want prancing round all the time. I guess my grumblings are very specific to my present situation. Which is very confusing, due to mixed messages. But it's not me (said in that "it's not you" way), which I know. So gonna leave him to get on with it and when he figures out what he wants he can let me know.. if I'm still around and single.

I still dress up nicely for my fiance when we go out, although he doesn't always get the matching underwear sets to look at any more

So Xan, is it Cork or Denmark? I am very excited and pleased for you - getting the chance to study something interesting and also to meet lots of young, single NFGs

Well, it´s too late to up sticks and go to Denmark so it will be Cork. Unless I can get them persuaded to take me into uni in Dublin, would be handy. It will be great meeting some nice student girls, I´m more concerned about that now than about the studies in themselves. Though knowing me, I´ll probably go through the whole thing without even a date

Though considering i've gone through 2 years of my course without a date, i can see your point.

I´ve found a way to get past the company website blocks, and I´ve found what looks to be a decent Irish dating site. I find it amusing one of the things they ask you about for the profile is how strong is your libido

Is there a scale?

Or do you put it like Beaufort Wind strenghths.

I'd be tempted to quote the Andrex ad: "Soft, strong, and very long...."
