Glad to see I'm not the only one scared of butterflies. Moths are even worse, unless they're little tiny ones. I don't mind bees and wasps, since all they can do is sting you. Moths can *flutter* at you, which is far far worse!
Flying - lots of people are nervous of flying, and it's often for the wrong reasons. For example, my boss was quite convinced he was about to die when the plane he was on landed at Jersey with its wings banked. But this is actually a standard crosswind landing technique for certain planes. I think the fear of flying usually comes from a combination of not being in control (as opposed to driving, where you are in control, and MUCH more likely to die!), and not knowing what's going on. There is also a perception that air accidents are always fatal, and this is simply not true. The vast majority of accidents are things like the nosewheel collapsing on landing, or leaving the runway after landing. These result in a BIG insurance claim, but no injury at all to passengers. Even a gear-up landing is unlikely to injure anyone on board.

There was an epidemic of head lice here in the summer & I was so paranoid about it (I've got rather long hair), I went through 2 bottles of tea tree shampoo & conditioner in 2 weeks. My head itched like crazy & finally I got one of the District Nurses at work to check for me. Turned out I was allergic to the shampoo

No phobias whatsoever. I am happy with heights, flying, any kind of creepy crawly, snakes, rats, blood, needles, you name it, I'm unafraid of it. *smug*
I don't like watching people drink milk, but that's more revulsion than fear.
I don't like thinking about death but that's not an everyday fear so I don't know if that counts or not.

I am s**t scared of wasps. When I was 5, i trod in a wasp's nest (what a stupid thing to do!) and I got stung all over. That was when my parents found out I was allergic, so that was fun. When one comes near me I become paralised with fear until its gone.
They look evil too, with the little curly stripy abdomen things they have.
I also don't understand people who are scared of moths, but can handle butterflies. That seems a bit weird to me.

Not all moths eat clothing, and who's scared of having a whole in their cardie? No what you want granted, but it doesn't keep me awake at night.
