I was on TV last night. I got more air time than anyone else in the segment (that didn't have a speaking part). My left arm got about 15 seconds, and my face got 5.

The French name for Zaphod Beeblebrox is Zappy Bibicy.
And - slightly stranger by a distance equal to approximately three cows per square ironing board - Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency is catchingly titled ... Beautiful as an Airport ...

A flong is a papier mache mould used for making stereos.
A stereo is (or was) a copy of the metal type used for printing long run newspapers. Hence 'stereotyping'
'Flong' is one of my favourite words of all time.

Floom is one of my favorite words. It's not really a word, but it sounds cool. Maybe the thingites should rename one of their days to floom...

Personally I think wednes (odin's)day should be renamed "watch yourself on that mistletoe Baldur!'sday.
Might be a bit difficult getting it to fit on calendars.
Btw my East German army hat has been on T.v pretending to belong to a WW2 German P.O.W. in a prison camp that was really Harrogate show ground.

My mate reckons that if you run in rain you get wetter than if you had walked. I reckon that you are out of the rain quicker by running and therefore will be dryer overall.
If you do get wetter by running, than you are dryer by walking slower. I therefore conclude that by walking backwards in rain, you will not get wet at all!

I'm walking backwards for Christmas, the Goon song was, I believe, released in June

Vidmaster - re: Post 964
Floom does not appear in the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary.
But (hooray!) Flummery does.
My single volume 'Shorter' Oxford English Dictionary (1933 edition, reprinted in 1964) is 2516 pages long and the pages are approximately 280x216mm (8-1/2 x 11 inches to my American friends, or Demy Quarto to my special friends)
The word 'Delia' is not included - some things are best left unchanged.

With regards to running in rain:
A group of scientists did an experiment to see which method resulted in getting wetter. They did it by having someone walk in rain and someone else (probably same sized) run in rain over the same distance, and weighing the clothes before and after. I think they found that running in rain makes a person wetter.
I think it's pretty useless that someone actually did that.

While 'floom might not be a word, 'flume' is. The definition is something like 'a channel for directing water.'

No, it was nice of them... next time it rains and everyone dashes about looking daft, I shall dignifiedly (also not a word) stroll along, possibly with book on head, and mock them for fools.
Laff.
