Some babies are born with "tail-like? extensions on the end their spines. Football players & wrestlers,(guys with over-developed neck muscles)can break their necks and "walk-in" to the emergency room.
You can have an infection so bad under a tooth crown, (cap) that your crown can blow off from the pressure.

A guy I knew in NZ once broke his neck when he fell off a surfboard and he walked 4 kmiles holding his head in place to get help.
