I've not read a book since February. BUT, in preparation for exams finishing in less than a fortnight , I've bought another 7 of the Aubrey-Maturin books. Before I read them, I'll be splicing the mainbrace, so it's going to be at least a day or two after the exams finish.
Also bought 'The Dressing Station: a Surgeon's Odyssey', by Jonathan Kaplan, ' Neanderthals, Bandits and Farmers How Agriculture Really Began' by Colin Tudge, and 'Why is Sex Fun?' by Jared Diamond. That should stop me getting a job for a week or so.

I must reccommend Porno
its a proper horror story
sick as hell
and Sick Boy has become some kind of pimp since Trainspotting

pedro Posted May 21, 2008
I read about half of it. It's definitely not nearly as good as Trainspotting*. Although might give it another bash during the summer.
*most books aren't though..

Hi, Xarin
It's a pity it doesn't work this link.

But if you like comics and want to read some classics ( I started to read quality comics at 17, which is your age now, it is not?) I recommend you to google it. It contains a lot of information about comic, current and classic ones.
My fav:
Milo Manara, italian, no one better at drawing the female body and turning on both females and males with his stories.
Crumb, american. Well... underground is the usual adjetive, but I would say: read it!
Gilbert Shelton: fuuuunnnnnyyyyyy, very very much
etc...
Look also for comic magazines: Pilote, Metal Hurlant, El Vibora...etc
oh! Corben, fantasy and divine drawings.
I hope, well I am SURE that you will enjoy them a lot.

>>I'm now in the mood for some romance - preferably totally unrequited love.
Try one of Yukio Mishima's romantic novels. He alternated homoerotic sadomosochism with romance. This was before he disembowled himself and was beheaded by a young pal.

That's the ticket. I do hope you're scoring your fix from the fine emporia off Otago St and at the top of Byrses Rd, though. That's an expensive habit you've picked up. If it goes on this way, I can see you queing outside the chemists for your Hornblower replacement prescription.
'Why Sex Is Fun' - also good.
Good luck with the exams.

Yukio Mishima it is then, Ed. Thanks.
Blimey, though - there's a lot to choose from. Can you recommend a title?

Edward the Bonobo - Gone. Posted May 22, 2008
Spring Snows. (Is that the title? It is.)
Or The Sound Of Waves. Or After The Banquet.
His homoerotic sadomasochism is also worth a read. Try Confessions of a Mask.
Also - movie recommendation:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089603/
(In the final scene, they do the Jaws Zoom-in-dolly-out trick)

Cheers Ed.
Done all my shopping online. There's no *way* I could afford the time off to wander about the West End. Might pop in next month though.
