Assassins Apprentice, Robin Hobb. Having problems reading this, as I have already read it before, and I don't like the bit that comes next, so have abandoned it for the more tedious task of reading backlogsmiley - winkeyesmiley - ok

Assassin's Apprentice is a good book. What part are you at at the moment, that you don't like?
I'm reading Ship of Destiny, also by Robin Hobb. First time round, though, so I don't know what's going to happen next.smiley - smiley

Am at the bit where Fitz has been framed by Regal for the murder of Kettricken's brother. Have you read the entire farseer trilogy? They're all good bookssmiley - ok I couldn't get into the liveship books for some reason, might give them a bash again over the summer, and am eagerly awaiting the fools errand to come out in paperback it looks like the start of another good trilogy, linking to the farseer bookssmiley - smiley *bounce*

They're up in the Mountain Kingdom, then? It is a kind of rough part of the book, from Fitz' point of view, being as he almost gets drowned and stuff.
Yes, I have read all three books, and I'm looking forward to Fool's Errand as well. Just need to finish the Liveship trilogy, and then I've got a bunch of books that I really should read before getting into another trilogy...

I'm up to my usual trick of reading several books 'at once', as it were.

Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. Tolkien
Mary Queen of Scots - Antonia Fraser
Crime and Punishment - Fyodor Dostoyevsky (No, I didn't see the BBC adaptation. It's my 'Book at Bedtime'.)

I also set myself the task of reading a few chapters of the Bible every day, which can be tough going. I've reached the Book of Joshua.

Big Bad City by Ed McBain, a novel of the 87th precinct (probably the series is quite famous, but I'd never heard of it - The cops presumably stay the same from book to book, so he doesn't introduce them very well).

I am proudly reading a trashy thriller! I love 'em. Decipher by Stel Pavlou.

I was sold on the tag line which reads...

"Mankind had 12,000 years to decipher the message. We have one week left..."

*sighs in happiness*

I have just read:
Tunnel Visions, by Christopher Ross. -An amusing set of thoughts and incidents from the summer he worked at Oxford Road station on the tube. Its very funny, and it has me looking at advertisements in an entirely new light...

I nearly read all of but not quite, on account of getting impatient, skipping to the end, and then reading some of the middle before deciding to drop it all together:
The Love of Stones, by Tobias Hill. -I think its a good book, but I didn't really get on with it as well as I'd hoped. Hill's writing style seems a little to many steps away from me than I'd like. I'm sorry, I can't think of a better way of putting it than slightly distant.

I am about to read, when I have daytime rather than nighttime:
The Diceman, by Luke Reinhart (sp?) -Prompted by h2g2's very own Lucinda, because his username used to be My Red Dice because of this book, and when I saw it in the bookshop I thought, why not?

My housemate's just finished the Liveship Traders. He liked it, but he says he's in Robin Hobb mode regarding everything and expects a bad ending to practically any fiction he reads or watches still. This, however, should not be taken as a spoiler for the end of the liveship traders, though, because it was more about the Assasin's trilogy, I think.

I'm reading 'Rebel Code: Linux and the Open Source Revolution' by Glyn Moody. Interesting read. Richard Stallman is still an annoying git, though.
