After a brief and pleasant wander into the world of George Borowski I'm now listening to Maximo Park - 'Our Earthly Pleasures'.

Gosh. I got this Maximo Park album on a recommendation, being previously unfamiliar with them.
It's really good!

Arcade Fire - Neon Bible - Black Mirror.
Well, I bought it! The reports of this album being not up to much (By the usual nit picking doom-mongers) are unfounded.........it's super-duper in a duperly-super way.
I was impressed with plenty of accordian playing on 'Funeral', but this album has Hurdy-Gurdys!!!! Hurdy-Gurdys.......how cool is that

Bloc Party - Silent Alarm - Positive Tension.
After 'A weekend in the city' being such a good album I decided to browse their back catalogue. I go into HMV.......Silent alarm, special offer £5. Woooo thinks I, and snaffles it up quick smart. While I'm wandering around good old Woolies a bit later, there is Silent Alarm for £3.47 Aha.....brilliant idea I go back to HMV and ask the assistant if they do 'price matching'? (Quite involved convo while I explain what that is) Nope......we can't do that.
So I get a refund from HMV, and pop over the road and save myself £1.53.
Surely HMV would have been better making £3.47 rather than nothing?

airscotia,
for every loon that goes back to return/haggle, there is another loon who does not go back. many chain stores rarely allow haggling as a houserule.

STRANGELY STRANGE ( A brain on a spring ) Posted Apr 7, 2007
Watching all the rare TV appearances of Alicia Keys that I have recorded on DVD over the last 5 years, but only by the skin of my teeth!
.
This morning I tried to add an appearance by her I recorded last night and found the Phillips recordable DVD disc had gone faulty like a fair number of my undamaged discs have! The 5 year old Phillips discs make my new Panasonic machine make cluncking noises and jam, sometimes I lose recordings totally. Fortunately my new recorder has a hard drive so after much machine jamming and clunking, along with having to unplug machine I managed to get recordings onto 3 discs, one to be a master and 3 for genreral playing, so my much loved Alicia Keys recordings are safe.
My old Phillips recorder had no hard drive so back up second discs were not possible so everything was on one disc.
Alicia, is to be honest my all time favourite soul singer, although some may disagree I think she is one of the worlds best female singers at moment so to lose 5 years of rare TV appearances would have been terible.
The moral is make at least 2 copies of really important stuff incase of unforeseen disc degredation on otherwise perfect discs!
