"So slide over here...
And give me a moment...
I've got to let you know...
I've got to let you know...

You're one of my kind!"

Or so it was, no it's Cochise by Audioslave.

No problem,
I mentioned them for 2 reasons, yes they might be intersting 70s alteranative music programmes for those on here to see, but also BBC3/BBC4 are free channels and often have both modern intersting "In Concert" type programmes that other channels don't show but also older interesting music. The more people watch BBC3 and 4 means the more likely 2 intersting chanels are likely to survive and the more likely they are to produce those sorts of programmes!

Whilst channel hoping just heard something very disturbing:

'Coming up, Charlotte (Church) will be performing with the Manic Street Preachers on their new single.'

I fear for the future of our race.

OK, I have just watched the 3 programmes on BBC4 about 70s music, the first I have seen before, the best bit was Hendrix track.
The second programme was the Hawkwind special, I believe I saw them around 30 years ago at Chalk farm Roundhouse, I certainly saw Lemmy's Motorhead there in mid/late 70s. It was interesting to see the covers of and hear tracks from vinyle LPs I haven't heard for 30 years again, what was really odd was to see Sci Fi books I read then but have forgotten about.
I have in my grubby hand a 1974 cassette by Robert Calvert, now dead, who was in Hawkwind. It is called "Captain Lockheed And The Starfighters" and is bizarrly about the F104?thread=OK, I have just watched the 3 programmes on BBC4 about 70s music, the first I have seen before, the best bit was Hendrix track.

I have in my grubby hand a 1974 cassette by Robert Calvert, now dead, who was in Hawkwind. It is called "Captain Lockheed And The Starfighters" and is bizarrly about the F104G Starfighter, an American fighter plane called the Widow Maker as crashed so many times, it is strange but actaully quite good! . The third BBC4 programme tonight was about early/mid seventies alteranative society. It got a bit posey and pretentious at times but was interesting to see how magazines like OZ started and were run though, Caroline C was shown, eventually she worked as a photographer/reporter for a national music paper, I used to sell a few photos of rock bands to music papers like NME,Sounds,Melody Maker, etc in those days too. . I wish they had shown more alternative music instead of mainly Hawkwind from around the mid 70s, I saw a lot of bands at the Roundhouse like Pink Fairies, Gong, Edgar Broughton Band, The Man Band, etc and rarely, if ever, see anything more than one or two tiny clips of them!

The Hawkwind special is certainly worth recording due to the interviews and the problems the people in band faced, the music is great too, it is a good insight into 70s life then.

Argh!

I got involved in a discussion with my flatmate about the size of Neil Peart's kit (he thinks it's a penis extension, I think it's a well utilised collection of drums), started watching the Rush R30 V again and completely forgot about the Hawkwind thing.smiley - grr
