Your motto, 'Alte Amplius Absque Cogitatim', 'Above, Beyond and Without Reason' appears to contain a mistake. I would think that a far better way of putting it would be 'Alte Amplius et Sine Ratione', where 'et Sine Ratione' replaces 'Absque Cogitatim'. 'Absque' should technically be alright for 'and Without' but 'Cogitatim' does not appear to be entirely correct, and 'Ratione' is a better way of expressing 'Reason' anyway. Sorry for all the bother.

quite alright - I just used an on-line english > latin dictionary and those were the responces I got back.

I'll change it when i get a moment probably - so do you know much latin?

I know a little and checked it with someone who knows a lot (he teaches it) and he agreed it was slightly odd and said that it should be changed to 'et Sine Ratione'.

You can't create you won sorry to tell you.

All the smiley icons and the codes to generate them can be found by clicking on the smiley face that shall appear at the end of the next sentence. Smielys can be used on some peoples personal spaces but most ofteh are used in forum conversations like this one. ---> smiley - smiley

As for images like the Thingite Banner - they have to be specially made by the Community Artists. They can be contacted below if you want to request something specific or even apply to become one yourself if you are artistically minded:
CommunityArtists

There is an archive of all the artwork avalbale to adorn your space with created by the h2g2 staff and the community artists. Get browsing here:

You must hate me already for being so pedantic, but in the Thingite's list of the new days of the week, FriBEEP is renamed 'POETS', POETS as in 'Push Off Early Tommorow's Saturday', however SaturBEEP is also renamed as 'Doobry' so POETS under this scheme no longer makes sense. It would instead have to be called 'POETD' as in 'Push Off Early Tomorrow's Doobry' Sorry my eternal apologies for being such a pedantic sad T**T.

actually you're not the first to point this out. smiley - winkeye

our standard reply has always been that POETS emobides the spirit of p.o.e.t.s without necessarily being subject to the force of the acronym.
In other words it refers also to poetry and the poets who write it and thereby all such creative drives we all have in us - whihc we never get the time to properly indulge because ofg schools jobs etc. so fri*** becomes POETS day were we can all just Push Off Early.

smiley - zen

I thought the Romans used nothing but capital letters?
Every bit of Roman stone with writing on it I've seen has been in capitals...

OK, every bit of stone I've seen with Roman writing HASN'T been in capitals. Some of it has been in very obscure places that barely merit being called villages, let alone a capital.

ah but Rome is in modern context, so if i wanted to say Shut your face, moron in classical latin, it would presumably be os claude hebes

The Thingite Motto

Post 19

well Rome is in a modern context, not classical latin
so os claude hebes
which translated means shut up, moron
