Jonny Posted Jun 13, 2002
Sometime after it's been started?
Don't worry, Jim Carrey was only a brief rumour. The project is currently in "Development Hell" which basically means nobody can be bothered to do it.

Has anyone started a petition yet? If so, you can add my name to it. If Spike Milligan was still alive, he would have made a great Slarty...

Don't want to be a wet blanket, but a petition is pointless - unless you get 200 million signatures and a dollar off every signatory.

Argon0 (50 and feeling it - back for a bit) Posted Jun 19, 2002
We could always ask the mice to sign it too!!!
How about Holly from Red Dwarf for the book, either version?

Nice Idea, but where do they carry threir wallets? I think Holly would do fine.
Please, please NOT Jim Carey for the lead role, (he might pull off the role of Zafod as long as he can keep his face straight).

Josh, Mighty Keeper of the Towels Posted Jun 20, 2002
Carrey is definitely not Zaphod material. I mean, Zaphod is insulting, like Carrey, but Carrey gets too much enjoyment out of it. I think that we get the feeling that the way of the insult is just another way of life for Zaphod. It comes naturally to him, where Carrey has to produce it. (Not knocking Carrey, you understand; The Truman Show was one of my favorite films).
Whatever happens, I think that it is of supreme importance that Slartibartfast have a white beard. Aside from that, I could maybe see Gillian Anderson as Trillian, though she'd have to be a little less serious, and I'm not sure she can do that.
And I think that Vogon Jeltz should be played by that lady who does Hyacinth on "Keeping Up Appearances".
Just a few thoughts,
Josh, MKOT

Patricia Routledge? She's got the range. Interesting thought (and one that wouldn't have struck me).

I should think the original cast from the T.V. Series would do for most of the parts. OR Just do it Digital.

How about Stephen Wright for Marvin...?
(that's Stephen Wright the American standup comedian, who was the voice of K Billy's sounds of the seventies in "Reservoir Dogs", NOT Steve Wright the Radio 2 DJ!)

Or for that matter Lorenzo Music, "hello this is Carlton your doorman" from Rhoda, and the voice of Garfield...

Just found out he's been dead since August 4th last year, so that's a bit of a downer right there. Still, Stephen Wright...

Patrick Stewart could be the voice of the book!! or be the voice of Marvin the paranoid Android.
oh yeah, what are your views on what marvin should lok like? I mean, have you seen what he looks like in the old bbc series? man, that is not right. personally I think he should look like Bender from futurama.

Hell, Yes, I'm disturbed! Hollywood would make Carrey a God over here, if they could. It's all about $$$$!
