Plans for the H2G2 film

"Besides, in the true spirit of Hitchhiker's Guide it would need to be completely re-written with completely new elements previously unseen?"
The script *did* have completely new elements. At least, the bit that Douglas described to us. There was *at least* one major new character, and the whole opening of the movie was different to that of the book or TV series.
If the script *is* included in the forthcoming 'Salmon of Doubt' we'll all be able to see what Douglas intended. I really hope it is.

The Duke of Dunstable Posted Mar 25, 2002
Does it open with the sequence in which the VL’HURG invasion fleet gets eaten by a dog due to a miscalculation of size facts?

"At least, the bit that Douglas described to us."
The bit he described to you? When was this?
Sorry, just being nosy!

He used to chat when he came to the Digital Village offices. You see, I used to work for him. That's why we made this site.

I _do_ hope they include it in Salmon - I'm quite looking forward to this now...
I wish I'd have e-mailed him with that increadibly important question now (the details of which escapes me)... to late *sighs*

I've recently re-read Mostly Harmless and I'm picturing Random being acted by Michelle Trachtenberg, who acts Dawn in Buffy, Harriet in Harriet the Spy and Penny in the recent movie of Inspector Gadget (to name three roles).

Maybe Hugh Grant...
I mean, I'm not a big fan or something like that.
But... He might pull it off. Being a bit lost all the time (Like Arthur Dent) is something he's really good at.
Cheers, Otto

And now he's lost his "Floppy" Hari style (or has in the Billboard ads for About a Boy) he wouldn't look TOO daft....
Only problem is (IMHO) he talks to posh to be Arthur...
Oh, and the Salmon of Doubt? Ordered from FSF book club a week or so back.... Anticipepepepepeppation is not the word...

I'll have to get mine at Waterstones, in the old-fashioned way
He could probably dumb his accent down, then he'd be great. But my money's still on Mr Lawrie!

Gets my Vote...
We could set up a "share" scheme for the H2G2 Film - a bit like I've seen for an alternative Space Program, Somewhere on the Web, you put in £5 or whatever and if the Film makes a profit, some point down the line you get some cash....

All you'd need to do was find 24 million like minded people. Simple.

Wasn't there a theory last year (just before DNA died) that Jay Roach and DNA had already started selling tickets? (sorry I can't be bothered to read back past a couple of weeks)

It would be cool if they made a HHG video game. Also, here is a poll:
Who is your favorite character in HHG:
A.Ford
B.Trillian
C.Zaphod
D.Arthur
E.Other
