At the end of the day it's all about mind over matter.
If you do believe in God, then you shouldn't mind what other people think.
If you don't believe, then whats it matter what other people believe.

Because the problem with keeping an open mind is that people will insist on trying to put things in it.

What is there to be proud about EVER having has sexual activity? As far as I can see, nothing. It is a bad thing, a product of hormones, that must be stopped. At least, that is my interpetation of Primism.

"Is it possible to leave our universe."
Perhaps, but the only way I've heard of would by to dive down a black hole. Not fun.

Hi again, AP, and welcome back.
If sex is a bad thing because it is a product of base chemical urges, then so is all life. Perhaps you just haven't had *enough* sex . After all, "call no man happy until he is dead" (Herodotus), and you can never have ALL the sex in the world.

Your mind is like your home, you wouldn't go out into the street and bring all the crap and rubbish into your home would you, you bring in things to improve it.
Everyone has a choice you can choose what you want to keep in your mind like you can choose what you want to keep in your home.

You have less of a choice than you think. Advertising, the way the media portrays things, who you associate with, they all affect it.

AD In my view, it is not logically possible to leave our universe and be in 'other space'.
For a given definition of universe, of course.

Some religions (the Cathars for example) did reject sex and most aspects of the world as evil. Seems a bit extreme to me but at least they had a good explanation for the existence of evil unlike conventional Christians.
I've strayed onto MRs speciality here so MR please excuse me if I've over simplified that.

"Proud, no, but why abstain forever?"
Well, Primism teaches that you should avoid things that allow the Conspiracy to control your mind. Since sex is based on hormonal urges, a wish to have it does not come from the mind and is part of the Conspiracy. Therefore, it must be avoided. If you have never experianced it, you are less likely to be tempted to experiance it.

Yes, but life is part of the Conspiracy, as is much of human biology.

AP, you should go onto the "meaning of life" thread. AK and you... sparks will fly.
And who says sex is based on hormonal urges?

Montana Redhead (now with letters) Posted Nov 9, 2003
Blackberry Cat, it's simplified, but correct. All dualist religions did a better job of explaining why evil exists than any monotheistic religion ever did. Problem is, like Calvinists and the whole double predestination, I always end up wondering why they didn't kill themselves? After all, if this world is the trap of the Lord of Darkness, why stay?

A penny for the wise man!
Does that include all the places you can imagine going?
Sex. That's not the point, AP. That's like a hermit saying "Oh, I acknowledge that the world might be good, but I can't go into it or I might be tempted". You can comprehend things rationally through thought or empirically through experiencing. Since more or less the only feedback we get from the universe is senses, it is our duty as sentient truth-seekers to experience as much as we can.
