Many thanks.
Daughter in law was given a caesarian at 26 weeks.
Baby (called Hope)was 1lb 1oz and managed to survive for 4 days. It was her lungs that gave up in the end.
Because of the severity of the situation, only the parents were allowed to see her while in special baby care, but after she had gone, we did get to say our goodbyes before they took her to wherever they take them afterwards. Ive never seen a baby so tiny.
Im not sure of any funeral plans yet.

This is Animals response to a mail that I sent to my friends wherver they are, not just on hootoo.
Helen, I think(in my view)that it would be a fitting tribute, to maybe put these on the hootoo thread that Galaxy Babe opened. It gives strength, to know your never alone
Hearts and Teddies.
Yesterday was a very sad day for our family.
Baby Hope was born too early and with lung problems, only lived for four days.
We all gathered together at Shrewsbury Cemetery to mourn her passing.
We had a rainbow before the service, bright sunshine and a breeze during and then a heavy rainstorm as soon as we left.
Shrewsbury cemetery is the only one that I know of that has a seperate area for stillborns, babies and toddlers. It is also the only one that I know of where you are free to add whatever you want to the graves. Teddies, wind chimes, windmills, plants, flowers, toys. etc etc.
So during the service, which was held at the graveside, the chimes rang out with the breeze blowing.
It was just a short service. 'Dad' carried the very small white coffin from the hearse car to the grave and then she was lowered into the ground. There was the funeral set prayers and then a few other remembrance prayers and no hymns.
The hospital chaplain conducted the service and was a very nice man. He took the effort to talk to everyone and we had a very long chat.
Hope's elder brother was stillborn, seven years ago and Hope's grave is not far from his, so we put some flowers on his grave and spent time with him too.
As the chaplain was saying his goodbyes to everyone, Emily who is Hope's elder sister (5) said to the chaplain 'you're alright you'. Which for those who know her, was quite a statement!
The reason that I have titled this as 'hearts and teddies' is that the flower arrangements were a teddy made of white carnations, with pink paws and feet and there were two heart shaped cushions. one pink with white corsage and one white with a pink corsage.

Allan and Jenny came over from Sheffield yesterday and took me & my Mum (and Andrew) out to lunch. I had a little (delicate) chat with Jenny and found out the reason why things went wrong - placental abruption. No reason that it should happen again, God willing.

From what I know of that (not a lot, to be honest) sounds like Jenny had a lucky escape herself. Here's praying for good luck next time.

Sad, Mad or Bad? - I always wanted to be a dino, but alas, I'm just old. Posted Mar 3, 2008
How very sad. I don't know what to say, except I'm sorry this has happened, and that I hope that you can all be to one another what they need.
