It is so convenient to have a Ka-Chinggg! just before Thanksgiving and the day after the property tax bill arrived! smiley - tongueout

*downstairs doorbell rings*
*Lil goes to the front window and sees the LC delivery van*
Let's see, the lift is on the ground floor... I press this button and that should open the outside door... Yes!

*In half a minute, the pizza delivery door is standing next to the service lift, staring wide-eyed at the elf-queen petting a sloth*

Here you go, here's your money, keep the change. Hello?
*Chloe rolls up the the delivery boy and takes the pile of fragrant boxes, seriously startling the delivery boy*

*Lil politely dismisses the boy and sends him back down in the lift*

Pizza and wings! And champagne or beer or wine or Dr Peppers, what's your pleasure?

Pizza, please! And I'll stick to champagne. It goes with everything, in my opinion.

Evening all. Just popping in for a mo, but will be back in a couple of hours. But I might as well stay for a quick bite and a sip.
*whips out empty glass and holds out to T for a fill*
So how goes it this evening?

Thank you Titania, and thanks for the greeting Witty, it's nice to get back here. No idea how long for, but hopefully I shall be able to make more regular appearances, without the huge gaps, as recently experienced. *crosses fingers, rubs lucky rabbits foot, touches some wood etc, etc.*

Right, unfortunately, I do need to go for now, but I should be back in a couple of hours, so I shall see you all then, unless you need to depart before I arrive (please don't all rush off smiley - smiley), in which case, I shall bid you adieu, and hope you have a good weekend.

Hi B17.
I'll have a slice of pizza, some buffalo wings and a beer, Cheers.
Just watched a TV prog on the music from 1987, Maddonna, George Michael, Whitney, Pet Shop Boys, Level 42, Terrence Trent D'Arby, 5 Star, Rick Astley and T'Pau. Had a good laugh at some of the fashions that were out there back then.
Currently viewing a prog on Queen and the videos they made smiley - smiley

Conspicuous consumption would be an appropriate way to describe the phenomenom. 'More is better' seemed to be the motto of the times.

ddombrow, thank you! I will hang it this evening. Please stay and help yourself to pizza. And, since this is a geeky forum I have no qualm about asking you to tell us what tools you used to create this image. The last work of yours I saw was the Space Centre float in the parade last April.

*stops to think* And then we need to think about an atelier float for next year. Suggestions welcome!

Wow, has it been that long... guess so.

As for the tools, mainly just the basic Paint Shop Pro tools plus three of my favorite filters.

Basically I obtained an image from the movie Fantasia to use as a reference. The one I got was rather small but still, some reference is better than none. From this I was able to create a basic silhouette of the beast. All the details were painted in (mostly just drawn lines smudged to add shading). The background is a gradient fill with some random noise for the stars. Some clouds (from a filter) is superimposed over that. Logical use of layers was very important so I could freely edit each part of the image separately.

The paint engine filter was used to create the textures for the wings, and pool shadow to create the variable highlights on the inside of the wings.

Simple, huh?
