Your generous welcome has persuaded me to disengage lurk mode on occassion and drop in. I will probably choose those ocassions when Matina has made cinnamon buns.

Virtual cinnamon buns are great, no real fat or sugar
I seem to remember news item in the last year or so about pet goldfish, slings and wine corks.
I'm sure there was more to say but I can't quite remember what it was at the mo...

Well, I also am happy for the fish, but this is one of those things you have to see to believe.
That is a great site, GL. I'm going to put it on my list of recommended web sites that I keep at the front counter.

Arts and Letters! My secret! It has been my computer home page for exactly the same amount of time that I have been on h2g2 - ie 3years and 4 months. I know this because I had been given a PC with a modem a couple of months before and had not much idea what was out on the big wide web.
So, after stumbling about for a bit I started by looking at sites recommended in newspaper articles. One Guardian article mentioned aldaily and h2g2 as being ones that the author looked at everyday. I often wonder if he still reads here and what his researcher name is.
Arts and Letters is also the home page on my work computer and any others that I set up for friends. I keep h2g2 all to myself.

Arts and Letters, what a wonderful thing.
I've just read one of the articles it links to and it was god.
To quote
"once you develop a taste for the good stuff, whether in art, music, literature or cognac, it's hard to go back. If giving a damn makes me an "elitist," then so be it."
Oh how sometimes I feel like that. Perhaps it's I feel it in music. Spending time and money going to dive venues seeing mostly second rate bands and the occasional flash or brilliance.
Perhaps it's having developed the ideas about what I like about art from having been exposed to the galleries and museums of London when I lived there.
Perhaps it's learning to like and recognise the way certain tastes when good (and not so good).
Perhaps it's because I was encouraged to aim high when I was a small one and during my formative years. (aim high else you run the risk of shooting yourself in the foot).
seem to have run out of what I was wanting to say but
for the link GL

* Comes very close to accidentally revealing his identity, but instead heads off to the kitchen and jumps in the refrigerator crisper drawer, after first taking a long look at the egg tray. *

Easter Saturday here. Off to clean up the cemetary and then on the Mother In Law's for dinner.

Happy Easter Sol!
Cassie woke me at 4.50 am and after dozing, was wide awake at 6ish. So I got up and have been playing with the Mazda RX-8 site. H says that it is the car for me. But I don't like the front of if much, but at 250 bhp it could be tempting. Looks best in black, not that I have the dosh to buy it anyway.

Toccata Posted Apr 26, 2003
Hello all, just spending a couple of days at my Mums (in Hampshire) before going back to Glasgow.
Sorry, I have yet to look at the backlog.
After a few hiccups, all our possesions are now north of the border!

I was wondering how you were getting on Toc. Glad to hear all is going well.
Lil, would you mind very much if I was to add a wing backed upholstered Queen Anne style chair in terracotta damask to the Salon? I have long hankered for one and there is no room here. Would a matching footstool and a brass standard reading lamp be pushing it? Please?

It sounds lovely, Caer. Where do you have in mind to put it?
You do realise, everyone, that I have some guest rooms with no particular decorating theme at all, and a suite down in the southwest corner that is completely empty? Perhaps y'all should be submitting paintings or drawings of your ideas for some of the rooms.
Off to get a haircut and do a bit of shopping this morning. Then I have some art to do. And I badly need a polarising filter...

Oh, and it's good of you to leave word of your well-being, Tocc! I was wondering about you as well. And if you're OK, Munchers is probably OK, too.
