h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

We just wanted to share something about Robbie! In addition to running h2g2 with us, and all his other business ventures, Robbie is just about to embark on a rather special trip - Swimming across the English Channel!
He will be part of a five person team Relay Team, they will start on Sunday at 00:30 AM, and you will be able track them here: http://cspf.co.uk/tracking

Don't do yourself down, GB - yes, it is an amazing thing to plan to swim the Channel, and it must have taken months of preparation, but your plan to sacrifice a part of yourself for months is not trivial either - both plans have impact on other people, too, who'd probably rather you held a coffee morning or online party instead

I swim that distance in about seven weeks, but I do it in a swimming pool. Good luck, Robbie.

Next message is that the relay has stopped due to the cold, still some swimmers continue.

On the map the 'Masterpiece' is close to the French shore near the village 'Wissant'."

"The 'Masterpiece' has just turned away from France.

About the local wildlife;
Porbeagle shark - Critically endangered, upto 365 cm, close relative of the great white shark.
Smoothhound shark - No more then 165 cm, grater teeth.
Dog fish and spur dog both small sharks will not bother a swimmer.

Most likely to meet are jelly fish, though as the swimmers will wear a full body wetsuit not much risk of a serious sting. "

They are about to reach the beach, even more near the village 'Wissand' ('White Sand' or 'Sable Blanc'). They probably aim for a warm croissant at the local restaurant ."
