What's a good name for the next maufactured pop group?
MaW Posted Nov 29, 2000
Just Add Talent seems to be popular... in Germany they have one called Di Fantastisches Vier who are just so appalling it's untrue... for those of you who can't work it out (or are too //) the name means "the fantastic four".
Oh dear.
And if you want the "hip" Internet thing in a band's name, it's easy. If they're female, just call them
gURLs
If they're stupid, and think "girls" is actually spelled that way, then so much the better. Make sure their lyrics are written by someone suitably desperate, and that their backing consists of lots of mindless "happy" sounds. That's a recipe for instant vomit if I ever saw one...

Actually there´s also a band named Fe-mail. Perhaps Fe-m@ail. I think they´re german, and they´re a manufactured band.
Hmm, BoyZone has been around for ages.

I just realized someone said Felch. Ewwww
But Just Add Talent seems to be the popular favorite. That's it. Now all we have to do is decide if it's going to be a boy, girl or mixed group, and find 4 or 5 willing, nubile, perky and unbelievable stupid takers. Anyone know anyone willing?!

Glad someone finally got the feltch reference!

Just out of interest as we are talking about manufactured bands, whatever happened to that boy band which there was a documentary about some years ago.
I remember reading about it in the paper how some business men decided to hold auditions for a boy band and see if they can make them rise to fame, I think they where called Upside down, or Inside out, something stupid like that.
Anyway they obviously have not made it big but maybe they could make another attempt with Just add Talent!?

Yesssss! They were called Upside Down but after two (minor) hits, they shrugged off their puppet-like masters and returned as Orange Orange and had no other hits.
Once again my knowledge of boybands singles me out as one sad get.

Okay you think you are sad, I knew one of the members of the band quite well!!!! Less said the better but I have known him for about 7 years, but since I left the country I have not kept in touch. Discovered this fact when I say his picture in the paper!
Now that is Sad!

Not really. B*Witched came to my former school to perform just before they released their first single... it was a big surprise to us when they got to number one... but I'm not sure if they're manufactured or just overmanaged.
I much prefer the Mediaeval Baebes, who were certainly not manufactured. Actually, at first sight they look like a record company's nightmare, until you see how many records they sell... (for classical, they're extremely popular apparently - although not so popular as Charlotte Church for some very bizzarre reason).
Anyone remember A1? They have to have been manufactured, being so bad and all...

I remember the name e-male. Fortunately, I appear to have erased their song from my memory. Put it down to trauma.

BTW, if we're talking claim to fame stuff, my wife met Let Loose at the Clothes Show Exhibition in Birmingham, and I detuned Zodiac Mindwarp's guitar as he was playing at a gig. Ahhhh, great days....

Think about this: the name must be funny, when you here it first, and then become the more boring the more you here it...
When it works, in the end everybody nows it, but don't think about it anymore. In case of "Die Fantastischen Vier" it worked very well (though they aren't manufactured prost!).
what about
"No Us"?
(no, just forget that)
