First single: Dear Prudence: Siouxie and the Banshees
First Album: Queen: A Night at the Opera
That's not counting ones bought for me by my parents when I was five.
If so:
Dougal and the Blue Cat: The Magic Roundbout people
Playschool the Album: Bang on a Drum
Never bought cassette tapes, always sounded crap compared to vinyl - I used to record records onto tape in order to preserve the vinyl.
First VHS tape Maybe Queen Live - We Will Rock You.

I'm not really here Posted May 5, 2005
First ever 7" vinyl, I am the Beat by The Look. Music about music, it set the tone for the rest of my life. I think I was about 8 years old.
I did have vinyl before that, but it was all stiff my mum had bought, you know, Disney stuff and 'White Horses'...

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted May 5, 2005
I'm supprized you lot can remember al lthis.... I think* one of the first albums I bought on casette was 'sheer heart attack' by Queen, from Woolworths in Beccles Suffolk, for, I seem to recall about £5....
One of the first vinyl albums I bought was a second hand copy of Night at the opera by Queen, with at the same time, Waka Jawaka by Frank Zappa, at a car boot I've never relaly bought many 7 inch singles first one.... probably somethign awful wahtever it was The first casette I had as I recall, was recorded by a friend from his brothers origional copy; was Queen greatest hits I, I think, oh no, I had a copy of Aprostrophy before that on a recorded tape But I was quite late on getting round to buying any music on any media, as I had a pre installed collection in the house of black Sabbath, frank zappa bonzo dog band, and a whole load of awful albums that my older sister left there

First album was Tupelo Honey/Van Morrison

Ooooh! Biba! Bet you bought Aqua Manda too!
Down in Bristol we had to make do with Miners!

Teuchter Posted May 5, 2005
Definitely no Aqua Manda - it was all Patchouli Oil and loon pants in my neck of the woods
I started wondering about why I never bought any singles - apart from financial constraints occasioned by expensive taste in nail varnish - and I think it was because radio was better in those days.

Ah yes - I eventually landed up with one of those cassette recorders that you had to point the mike then tell everyone to shush before pressing record - used to record the Top 20 every Sunday!
However on single vinyl I have - various Slade, various T rex, Argent - Hold Your Head Up and ....hang on I need to go to the attic!!!

The Psycho Chicken -- self respect intact Posted May 6, 2005
First single - Do They Know it's Christmas (the first one)
First Album - Ultravox - Vienna (I'm now on at least my third copy and I still love the album) although I have very fond memories of a vinyl copy of 'Rubber Soul' by the Beatles, which I think was my Dad's until I adopted it.
First dodgy tape - it was a green transparent C90, with The Police 'Regatta de blanc' on one side and Blondie's 'Parallel Lines' on the other.
First CD - Deacon Blue - Raintown
First VHS - Highlander
First DVD - Fantasia
With the possible exception of Band Aid, every one of the above is still on rotation in my home.
