There's a story that a woman went to Napoleon to complain that some of his soldiers had raped her. He drew his sword and handed it to her and asked if she could put it back in the scabbard. When she tried, he moved the scabbard about so it was impossible to do.

"See, if you had put up some resistance, you couldn't have been raped"

If I had been that woman, I would have put the sword to his throat until he held the scabbard still.

There is also the story that he hated rape so much that during his Egyptian Expedition, he declared, “everywhere, the rapist is a monster” and ordered that “anyone guilty of rape would be shot.”

Which one is correct...it took me 30seconds to find this quote.

Probably yours, I was relying on my memory.

In any case the story that I told had nothing to do with the authority being Napoleon. It was an answer to the people who think that a girl isn't raped if she doesn't put up a furious struggle. She can be coerced with threats that don't leave a mark.

Also, that jury was simply wrong. I used to wear skinny jeans and I found that, though they were difficult for me to remove, others could peel them off me very easily.smiley - winkeye

>Gordon Brown worst ever Prime Minister, Labour candidate says<

The Prince of Darkness is spinning it as someone a few sandwiches short of a picnic. Now I don't have much sympathy for the devil, but having heard said candidate, ranting dementedly on the radio earlier, I'd be less than honest to disagree with that assessment.

I'd have to honestly say though, it is quite possibly the worst ever election campaign. Quite ironic when you think about it, because his predecessor was forever criticised for his spin, control freakery and news management.

In Ontario (it borders New York and Michigan) life seems to be becoming
more and more like the American nightmare where the self-righteous media
conspires with power-tripping police to humiliate and traumatize a gang of
MINI owners on a Charity run.

You won't hear about this on the 'real' news.

Yeah I was fascinated by this story, because I'd always heard that DNA studies showed no interbreeding had ocurred. But reading the report it appears that interbreeding didn't occur in Europe, but elsewhere. And it's only 4% max.

But yes fascinating in that it indicates that viable offspring were possible at all, from mating between both species..and if so..why not more?
