HHGG game - the new version - a central page on h2g2 for discussion and questions?
Loup Dargent Posted Oct 1, 2004
Hmmm... I haven't got The Babelfish yet... I managed to die before getting it...
Rather inconvenient as I couldn't save the darn game...
Perhaps playing the game while still being logged in h2g2 could have helped for the saving bit? Yes? No? ?

WHILE you have your cookie set to remember you? or online?

>Who does ever 'sign out' of HooToo ?<
I know...
I can't set the "remember me" thingy as I share the PC with my kids... Not that I don't trust them, of course...
I will try the:
">RESTORE [enter]
>[enter]
>SAVE [enter]
fill in not too fancy name [enter]"
next time I have a go..
Probably a good thing though as it will take me _less_ moves to get to the Babelfish now...

I'm in the Vogon Hold. I pulled the switch near the glass case encasing the atomic vector plotter and listened to the message. It told me to type in the FIRST word of the vogon's SECOND verse. I listened to the Vogon poetry. He read one verse with four parts. I thought maybe the second line was the second verse, but that word didn't work (I typed 'Type "As"') and it blew up on me. I'm confused. Did he not read us the second verse? Help? Anyone?

Oh, forget it. I got it. As I suspected, I wasn't read the second verse.

Not a great ending but finishing is a joy in itself.....

loup, I've been unwell over the weekend, so haven't worked on the A page. I'm tweaking it a bit today, but doubt that there will be any major changes until I feel better. Sorry, that doesn't give you much to write about.

Don't worry, it's as it is... after all, the content will grow from the queries/tips/hints that will be posted in the convos...
I've got enough to plug it properly... no problem.
That is if I manage to beat the deadline.. I found myself Net-less today thanks to a program I downloaded which messed up my connection [] and, of course, I found myself with a few more things to do tomorrow in the RL department..
Why do days have _only_ 24 hours?!...
It's definitely a moment there...
Should be a fun challenge...

It's in!!!
It's at A3092582 but the full article will only appear on Thursday around 10:00 am BST...
Hopefully by then its complete title will be there as well... but I won't push it too much as I did go _a tad_ over the deadline this week...
It was incredible the number of delays I got for that one... I even went on a goose chase looking for a site which doesn't seem to exist...
I think I need to lie down now... where is that bulldozer?...

Probably because you keep them in a more convenient place... like very close to you [or on you] most of the time...

"Neighter. As far as I get it the account selection is an automated process. Make sure you are 'online' as in browsing HooToo. The Cookies will do the trick.
Only one naming problem (for registrated users): First you got to restore, only then you are able to save any name game.
Nice article Loup , I just thought it would have something to do with the Game, . "

It wouldn't save for me at first, but all of a sudden it started working fine. I can use whatever name I like to save - when I type RESTORE I get a list of my saved games.

There was a slight bug where registered h2g2 users would have to type RESTORE before they could SAVE named games.
A proper fix for this has been released now, but by typing RESTORE you managed to find the workaround yourself anyway
Hope that helps,
Sean.
