slugs are still ick. And gungy. And eurghh.
And the deliberately hide behind things I want to pick up so the first I know is when I get that slimey squidgy feeling as I grasp a plank of wood.
You like em so much, you can come take mine!

Speaking of noisy slugs/snails......
...I once (accidently i hasten to add) trod on a slug. Well, t'was in my mates living room, i wasnt expecting it to be watching E-Enders with us
The noise of the skin splitting is just sooooo revolting, i'm terrified of them now...
When it rains i'll walk in the road at night to make sure i dont accidently tread on any!

Slugs actually *like* slithering around on roads when it rains. At least, they seem to make a sport of it up my way.
Maybe they're playing Chicken.

you have to admit, when it comes to survival of the fittest and evolution, you'd have thought by now that slugs and snails would have evolved to not go slithering around on roads and pavements at night.
My parents front door path/step used to be a favourite gathering ground for them and when I used to turn up a little merry at midnight the crunch crunch crunch underfoot was most disquieting (OK, I *did* try to avoid them but they seemed to be having a party or something and there was barely a patch of ground where a size 9 could go without hitting something!).

My moms drive was the same, infact, her whole streets a gathering area for the local slugs/snails. Can remember many a night coming back from the local a little merry Ended up a right game trying to get up the whole of the street without stepping on one!
I remeber when i was really little tho, a certain street i used to live on had a similar problem, only there it was worms, thousands of worms!!
No wonder i have a terrible in-built fear of all things wriggly
