How do you know if you are in love?

>One day you're going about your normal life, the next you've met someone, or your feelings for someone you know have changed, and suddenly everything you do and all your thoughts revolve around that one person.<
Ho yus! (see post 7)
I still smile everyday even when he has arse hanging out of his pants and he's doing the washing up

Once again, FunkyP, you're on the money. It's stupidly scary; I feel like I've become a different person. There's a poem I wrote that I'd post but BBC would get the copyright so I won't. Know what you mean about the arms around you thing and I *can* put the last two lines of a different poem because I haven't finished it
But most of all I miss your soul,
The way you'd hold me, make me whole.
I wouldn't change anything either because I had the happiest time of my life but it is very frustrating that the happiness can't continue. I will see how things go (as per advice above) but I still don't know how long I can be friends for.

Opticalillusion- media mynx life would be boring without hiccups Posted Feb 12, 2007
when i first start going out with people i feel like warm liquid has been poured into my body when we touch. Don't know why that feelings dissapeared now.

Opticalillusion - I think that's my problem too - the 'warm liquid' doesn't last forever. I'm sure if I admit that I'm married, I will lose everyone's sympathy for my situation. But can I just say - I truly love my husband very much. Until about a year ago, I never dreamed that I could even find anyone else attractive, let alone fall in love with them.
But it just happened, I didn't mean it to. When I first start a relationship, when someone puts their arms around me or kisses me for the first time, I get a 'feeling' right in my core, the only way I can describe it is that I feel like I'm melting or something! It's an amazing feeling. When I was first with my husband I felt that, but the feeling naturally goes. Now my love for him is more comfortable and familiar - it's still as strong, I would do anything for my hubbie.
However, when blokie - I'll call him Mark - put his arms around me, there was that feeling again. I hadn't felt like that for years, and it was like I was 15 again. I don't want to leave my husband, and Mark doesn't want to leave his girlfriend (or at least not for *me* anyway) but I still love him.
The other thing is - he has kids, and I would *never* dream of take their daddy away from them. If I could switch my feelings off I would, but it's impossible to forget how amazing it felt when I was with him. I think it's natural to want to feel that again, but on the other hand, I know I don't want to go through life moving from person to person, just to keep that 'new love' feeling going.

I know this is an old thread, but I just had to resurrect it to say... he's gone. My blokie left work today, and I'll probably never see him again. Perhaps a good thing in the grand scheme of things, but ooooohhhhh, I miss him already.

You know you love someone, when their heart is breaking and yours breaks too.
How do you know if you are in love?
FunkyP. Posted Feb 22, 2007
Possibly, but it can be a one-way thing too. If you love each other, you're 'in love' - if it's just one-sided, it's unrequited love

QuietNefertari Posted Feb 22, 2007
I cried the whole transatlantic flight home (well, almost) in September, when I was certain I would never meet the Other one again. At that time, there was a spark, but not even a kiss between us.
But as it happened, we did meet again. And it was bliss.
It can happen, you know...

I love it when there's a happy ending!
I believe that there is a difference between loving someone and being in love with them. Loving someone can be a friend. Being in love is more than a friend in your eyes. Or at least that's what I think.

I don't know about ending... but it might just be a beginning
There is definitely a difference between loving and being in love. And also between being 'in lust'

How do you know if you are in love?
sapphirenjade Posted Feb 27, 2007
At one time in my life, I'll admitt, I was quite a slut. I would go to bars, and find a guy to take home that night for a one night stand.
Then one day, i met four people, who invited me to this place they all hang out at, get drunk, play music, be happy.
I went, and pretty soon, all their friends started showing up for the evening's fun. And this one guy walked through the door, and I was enthralled. I just blurted out. "you're hot!"
He said, "thanx" and, well, i instantly did away with my slutty lifestyle, even though i wasn't really looking yet, i knew i had found the perfect man.
We got married a year and a half later, and we had a beautiful baby boy.
Sometimes, it just happens when you're not really looking for it.
(Because believe me, earlier, I was always looking for it. It wasn't until I stopped that i found the perfect man)

That's a refreshingly honest post, Sapphirenjade!
I'd say it's possible (even normal perhaps?) to be in love and lust with the same person!

Sorry, that last post didn't sound like it was meant to... I didn't mean that you're not usually honest, just that people in general don't usually talk so openly!

No, I know what you mean. Love is the part that keeps you together, lust is what makes it exciting. You need both to stay together. I think.

van-smeiter Posted Mar 28, 2007
I stopped looking a long time back and I did find love- at least I fell in love- though I don't think she loved me. I can update no resolution from my previous posts but... I wrote this poem soon after we parted and (despite my reluctance to give copyright to Auntie) I hope that it says something about being in love- or possibly not being loved
Each morn, when I shed sleep's disguise,
I think of you and swell with pride;
I see your smile, your flashing eyes.
But then I realise.
Your eyes no longer flash at me,
You smile for others happily;
no smile for mediocrity.
My heart too poor for thee.
And so I close my eyes again,
Get out of bed, ignore the pain;
I try to live without my brain.
But thoughts of you remain.
Ecstatic thoughts right through the day,
Sweet glimpses of your wondrous ways,
Your gentle kindness, come what may.
These things you took away.
Each night, when I lie down to sleep,
I think of you, my heart aleaps,
I smile your smile, see eyes blue-deep.
But in my dreams I weep.

How do you know if you are in love?
Powminator Posted Mar 29, 2007
The nature of love is something that continues to baffle me. Just when I think I've got it nailed down it's like someone moves the goal posts or something.
I had a perfect relationship once that lasted 12 hours. I won't bore y'all with the details, but I never persued it further because it would pretty much have been down hill from there. Still, it's a memory I treasure, and I take it out sometimes and wander through it.
I'm a lot more cynical about love now than I used to be.

Yes lovely poem, sorry it was written out of sadness as mine are too.
Anyway my addition to this thread is:
"How do you know you're in love" It all goes 's up, in my opinion only of course.
