Well, I think the best thing about h2g2 is the people!
Even when they're arguing they *seem* to do it in a polite manner (at least the one's I've seen so far...)
I'm trying not to get drawn into the Telewest argument because I believe it just helps to break an already fractured community and I would hate to lose many potential friends because of one silly argument....
Rant over
So big and to all the people in hootoo whether I know you or not, have a on me!

One of the things I love about this site is that you can have a bitter argument with a person in one conversation and then speak happily with them on another thread, for example Sat and aka may have become pariahs over the digibox issue but when it's all blown over the hard feelings will be forgotten and we'll all just get on again

I hope so.
The only thing that makes this a community IS the community. By contributing to the EG, creating clubs and weird societies we make it what it is, not anybody else.
Without the community getting over each hurdle, surviving each disaster then the site would fall apart. And we won't let that happen!

I definitely dont want that to happen........Mort, can I be cheeky and ask you a favour, you are a guru so you know the answer to lots of questions and a sub so you know about the editorial process.......I have a thread going called 'What happens next...?' can you check it out and help please....sorry if I'm being cheeky

Also something I thought of last night and is for all of those who are worried about 'the Community' - just look at what you're doing, you are expressing real concern over this place. It isn't the electricity or the codes that make this place as wonderful as it is, it is the people and their attitudes. So long as we carry on caring as much as we do, the Community is under no threat

Just realised I've pretty much repeated what Mort just said I should really read the backlog more thouroughly, I thought I was being original and kinda inspiring

Cheek!!
My mind is somewhat due to too many celebratory s last night for getting my second entry picked!!

I'm not going to say that because, although I'm well aware I'm a fool, I'm rather fond of Mort and I'm not going to insult her so

back to the original question: what was it like pre-rupert?
the angels were still very active and god was still around (of course, that goes waaay back...). we used to have some killer parties.
the first party i went to was one of galaxy babe's keeper parties - i think the one she had after the first 100 keepers joined - it lasted for *weeks*!
the song title thread could turn an led in under an hour... now sometimes it takes weeks. for awhile we tried to keep up with the questions thread, and ultimately we failed utterly. so questions and no no no! raced to the 10,000 mark, then 20,000... altho those races may have been post-rupert.
i miss a lot of the old, familiar faces, even the ones i didn't talk to frequently.
shortly after arriving i joined the angels, the keepers and the muses, i forget in what order tho. i joined the kindom of balwyniti and had loads of great fun there, it's still one of my favorite places even if it isn't as active as it once was
i loved the original version of 'a short history of short words' or whatever it was called. i haven't come into contact with agcben frequently but i still think she's brilliant!
crater labs was a great place for ordering 40,000 ton snowballs
and having 'max moron' around was fun . i miss the old staff!
sorry i've rattled on a bit... i've completely forgotten what it was i would change if i could. if i remember what it was i'll be back.

*agrees with Iago*
Man, I have been a pariah so many times here. I know it always goes back to people having a good time. Always. I'm not worried.
