My favourite bit:
"Surely, she thinks, he is about to do the compassionate thing; and yet just as she limps up to the door, wheezing, on the verge of collapse, the system performs one of those acts of inexplicable malevolence on the consumer. The doors hiss shut in her face and the bus moves off.
How often have you seen it happen? How often has it happened to you?"
You can imagine him say it!

Like a previuos poster I believe his buffoonery is a act. I reckon his intellect is razor sharp - and I don't think he is keen on newts - so he'd probably make a goo replacement for KL and his cronies.

I have always thought he acts the fool to disguise his true qualities, i amlooking forward to see what those may be, I have no doubt his has a sharp mind but he does need to take time to reflect on his thoughts instead rashly making statements which course him so much grief

With a swish of his flopp of hair Boris sets forth to change things for ever, his first task is to introduce the Indigestion Charge to help keep the bowels of the city moving, following on quickly with the new Conch Travel Card (it's a bit like the Oyster except if you hold it to your ear you hear if a bus is coming)

Just saw an amazing interview on the beeb b'twixt Johnson and Paxman.
BJ: Yes, well I think the parliament ..er...er.. the meat in this sausage should be mostly Tory with all..the er.. er.. bread surrounding the ..um
PX: So the question then is this a chipolata or a... cumberland?
BJ: "Oh my..er...yes well I ...er. I think that's quiet enough of this... gastronomic metaphor."
PX: "You started it!"
BJ: "Yes...well I have a city to run."
PX: "Well go do it then!"
Hope it appears on youtube. Probably the highlight of the coverage so far.

have you noticed?
There's another one of them as an MP now - Jo Johnson, Boris's younger brother, wins Orpington
