well I don't think it would make much differance especially with the new Boy Wonder of the Tory Party, supported of course by his side kick The Mighty Boris

I think he'll instigate a coup and overthrow the Queen to become King Boris.

Oh yeah, he's going to be presenting a series comparing the Roman Empire to the European Union!!!

What did ya think of the programme?

Kerr_Avon - hunting stray apostrophes and gutting poorly parsed sentences Posted Jan 30, 2006
I saw it, and enjoyed it. Although his politics came through pretty loud and clear, I don't think it was heavy handed. HIs French accent sounded okay to me, but then I'm no French expert!

Me neither, it just struck me that he seemed to get on OK with those 2 french farmers, it just struck me as a rather odd meeting of worlds!
I thought it interesting inspite of his theory. Personally I think he covered the main part of "why did they succeed and the EU hasn't" in very short order. Which is basically that they are 2 different things with different aims. Bit like asking why a VW Beetle can't get from Rom to Normandy as fast as a Ferrari.
But still. Nice countryside, interesting history and artefacts.

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted Jan 30, 2006
I didn't find myself shouting (much) at the telly, which surprised me rather!
I thought the bit with the peasant farmers was a little unfair on them;
commentry:"I suspect I'll hear the same old whinges"
Boris:"What are the problems you have with the EU?"
peasant farmer: predictable whinge
Well duh! You didn't ask them what the good bits were...

I liked the bit where he was talking to the expert about the Roman civil service. The expert was telling him very interesting facts about the Roman civil service but Boris was transfixed with the fact that there was only two hundred of them and kept on bring it back up into the conversation.
He must say though I like his style of documentry-making, and his 'multi-lingualability'...

Anyone watch Boris Johnson's holiday snaps last night???

IctoanAWEWawi Posted Feb 6, 2006
yes, it did have the element to it!
Did you like his 'Lapon/lapin' confusion? Can just imagine what was going on in his head with pictures of rabbits trying to herd reindeer!
And I don't think I've ever seen someone do a 'lighbulb going on in head' impression as well as he did when discussing the implications of roman baths on romanisation.

What it's 'bad luck' he deliberately chose to shag someone other than his wife and can't be trusted to ride a bike without mowing down pedestrians?
Not much 'luck' involved in either it seems to me.
